Good luck Julie, I've come to the conclusion that whatever you do, if they're not ready to come out, they wont come out! It's frustrating and feels like you are waiting forever though. Hope things start moving along for you soon.

Bet you noticed I'd not been around for a couple of days huh?

Well, FINALLY our little princess arrived at 23.15 on Boxing Day by c-section. :T

After 5 days of labour they announced she was back to back. What with the pain from this and a query over whether my waters went on the Friday before, plus babe's heartbeat at more than 160, the birthing centre decided a trip to hospital would be best.

I'd been in established labour since 7am on Boxing Day and had a lovely time at the birth centre, just me and DH. The birthing pool was bliss, but only until my backache really kicked in. At around 12 it was blue flashing lights and off to the local hospital, with DH following behind in the car.

Long story, but nothing brought my temperature down and nothing made the contractions effective enough to turn her around, so at 11pm I was whisked off to theatre, where - bizarrely - Christmas carols were playing. Even more bizarrely, When A Child Is Born played at one point!

After a 2 day stay in hospital we were home last night and all is going well. When things get settled I'll start that MSE parent club!

I'll update the birth list in the next post, but I suppose what you really want to know is she weighed 8lb 10oz and we've called her Imogen Beth.

As a bit of encouragement, when I had DS3 earlier this month, my waters broke, I went in and they examined me and said I was still tight shut, totally unfavourable for labour, and to go home and return in 18 hours time when they would induce me. This was at 10.30 am, I went home, went back to hospital in agony, midwives nearly laughing at me because "I couldn't be in labour" and I delivered at 2 pm, so don't get downhearted, as things literally happen in minutes!

Just to say a big congrats to all who had their baby over the last three days.
Lu T. sorry to hear you ended up with a c section how are you coping? I had one with my dd last year and found it really painful especially when you first get up :eek:.
If you can try to get someone to use hot water with some salt and a flannel to gently pat over your wound every day if pos. The salt aids healing and helps protect against infection.

I have 16 month old and 31 weeks preg with no 2. I have been using a foam mattress for the past 14 months. It doesn't have any holes and neither did the mattress in the moses basket i used until she was 2 months.
When i was pregnant with my first i didn't know what to do either but as time went on I realised that if you listen to all the stories and so called experts you become really confused.
I ended buying a new cot with foam mattress for @ £90 from a local stockists my moses basket on the other hand was secondhand. I think as long as the mattress meets eu standards and is good condition you shouldn't worry too much. Babies are alot tougher than they look and they can sleep just about anywhere on anything!!
