Well, here I am with ANOTHER update! Went in again last night after regular contractions most of the day. Got to 1am and they were starting to get too painful. And after all that I was 1.5cm dilated - a full half-centimetre more than 24 hours previously. Yeah!
Then the midwife queried whether my waters had broken (lost a lot of watery stuff on Friday) so off to the hospital for that to be checked out. I'm booked at a midwife-led birth centre, which is fab, but doesn't have all the technology.
Final opinion was that they hadn't gone - good job 'cos I don't want inducing - so back home about 5am.
Contractions continue but back to being sporadic. Apparently this is just my body 'practising' - not sure at what point I'll get any good at it!
The parting shot from the midwife was "What got you into this mess, could get you out of it," so it just remains for me to pursuade DH that this is a good idea - understandably he's not that keen having seen what I've been through this last 60 hours.
Congrats to Js-Other-Half, how fantastic to have your little one in time for Christmas. Hope you can recover from the op okay and aren't in too much pain. :TMSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -

Someone else said earlier that taking the magic medicine works better if you swallow it. Would he be more keen on that? Just a suggestion!
Still thinking of you and hoping this baby arrives soon. It must be just too comfy in thereHere I go again on my own....0 -

I'm spacing out the painkillers ( as per a midwife's recomendations) so I never actually run out of something being in my system...;)
We got about 4 hours sleep last night all told - so for his first night home from the hospital I don't think that was too bad. He has just fed constantly for the past 2 hours (am bf) so he is now napping and I am going to try to get showered and dressed...lol
Spinal block was fine, C section was fine... getting up from lying down though is not fun
We couldn't be happier
Good luck Lu T - it'll be worth it - honest :AThe IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
DH checked with the midwife (cheeky chap) about taking the 'hormones' orally and she said
"You're trying to stimulate her uterus, not her stomach"!! :T :T So think we can rule that one out on medical advice.
Thanks for all the lovely wishes. Am hanging on in there.
J's-other-half - Glad you managed to get some sleep. You're lucky you're out so soon, round here they keep you in around 3 days after a c-section. Have a fab first Xmas with your little bundle of joy.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Hi,
Merry Christmas all, hope your all OK, any chance someone could help me with some cot\matress advice?
We are looking at some cots & some come with matresses and some don't & I've also heard that there are diferent types of matress some with holes in that are supposed to help the baby breath if he\she ends up the wrong way up but then someone told me that bacteria collects in these holes & that can be dangerous!
Any idea what everyone is on about & what type of matress is recomended nowadays?
Thanks for any advice,

Although it could be true - I presume the hormones have to get into your bloodstream, so might still be quicker orally!
Either way, I don't think I'll be trying it unless I'm really overdue hahaha!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
