  • Hi everyone, long time since I've been on here as my little one is 7 weeks old now and thriving :D Congrats to all who have joined the club recently and especially to all those with new arrivals.

Just thought I'd direct all MSE Pregnancy Club members to my thread here which is about a free £1 charity donation to the Sunday Times Seeing Is Believing Appeal for all new registrations to the Netmums website. It is a useful website giving free local information for parents, so worth joining anyway. You need to register before 31 December for the charity donation.
  • OK due date here - and baby has no intention of arriving :D

Being induced tomorrow due to gestational diabetes - wish me luck!
    The IVF worked;DS born 2006.

Just updating the list and moving Aimo to the 'probably given birth...' part. Guess at 13 days over she'll be there by now. What with that and J's Other Half have a section today that makes me 3rd on the list - eek!!

Mercurystar - the Clarins oil lasted me from about 16 weeks until last week (38 weeks) with daily application, so although it seems expensive, it's not bad on price per use. :money: Sorry, meant to say it lasts ages. What a lucky wife you have getting all those lovely pressies. Good for you for pampering her, she'll really appreciate it I'm sure. :T :T

Purplepatch - glad to hear you're getting on okay. Fancy starting the MSE parents club I mentioned? I would, but don't qualify yet!

Maow - it's great you can take your little one to meet his Norwegian family at Christmas. Hurrah for hormones!

Good luck Julie & Lynsey. Hopefully we'll all have news soon!

Anyone that has joined Boots parenting club and still has their first freebie vouchers, single use cameras are two-for-one at the mo, and if you use your free No7 product voucher(up to £16 I think it is), you get a free purple bag with cosmetics in when you buy something over £15. I got my hands on over £30 worth of goodies today all for free!!!! I did buy some new hair clips though so I didnt look a total tight wad at the tills!

I used my voucher for some foundation on Saturday, and wanted to buy some concealer to make it up to £15 - hence get free gift - I was informed in no uncertain terms by the cashier that this was not allowed!

    Well done you!:T

I did even better at Boots.

I wanted to get a lipstick and a mascara, and understood one item would be free. The lady then offered me a free 100ml skin care product which was free with the mascara so I picked a cleanser, and the free bag as I was spending more than £15.

When she saw the parenting voucher, she said I could no longer have the bag or the cleanser. She said no other offers were applicable to people with vouchers.

I said I wanted to use the voucher on the lipstick, pay for the mascara with free cleanser, and get the bag free as it all came to more than £15. Again she said no as I wasn't actually spending over £15. I complained again, and pointed out that previous customers had not actually spent £15 either as most had a £5 off voucher.

She got a supervisor who confirmed that I was right and told the lady to put the stuff through the till. The till assistant then couldn't work out how to process it all through the till and didn't want to call the supervisor back, so she just put the lot in a carrier bag and told me to take it.

So I got a lipstick, a mascara, a cleanser and the goodie bag all for nothing :money:
Here I go again on my own....

  • Hello,

I am intending to join the TTC list in about four months time, and I have been reading up as I am very excited!

My book talks about arranging an appointment at the doctors to have a sort of health check, I think it's to talk about diet and exercise, identify any potential problems (eg genetic), and other stuff. Did people do this? On the one hand I love it when I have health checks and stuff (I like the attention!), but then I know I am healthy, is it a waste of their time? I don't want to be a time waster.

I could ring the surgery and ask the receptionist for advice.

Any tips of what I could be doing in the meantime? Practising contracting pelvic floor muscles, for example, or eating more broccoli?

Is the book American by any chance?

However, it will do no harm for you to be tested for rubella immunity, amongst others as this will put your mind at ease before you get pg.
Start taking folic acid, and get yourself on a healthy diet - it can only help.

    Good luck with it all

  • Think the list is a bit out of date, but I know Ziggy (Anne) had her baby (congrats and that was our name if we had a boy!)

Sorry to others who added themselves on to EDD list after this but I am too whacked to try and sort out list.

Our 2nd daughter - third child - arrived 0405 on 19-12-06 weighing 8lb 15.5oz and was 9 days early. Labour was extremely quick and only got to the hospital with just over an hour to spare, very small hospital and only gas and air available so glad it was over quickly. Was home again by lunchtime and seem to be settling into a routine of up all night and asleep all day! I'm sure she will get things the right way round eventually. Congrats to all the other new mums over the last few days, we have been a busy lot.
