Hello! Just found this chat thread, been getting the money saver e-mails for a little while now but hadn't realised this was here.

Does anyone know what money I would still be entitled to if I gave up my job in March 2007 (I'm due May 29th 2007) For various reasons I think I am going to have to move North and leave my job (too stressful, too far away from my family) but I am worried how we will pay the bills whilst I am recovering from the birth and looking for another job.

My pregancy has been a lovely surprise (had my first child seven years ago after taking clomid and didn't think I would be able to have more) but it came three months into starting a new, high powered job in a new county :eek: (!) and I am the breadwinner too (I am really lucky my husband stays at home to look after our son and the house) so my priorities have changed a lot in the last few months!

SJACB - looks like you disappeared when George's Mum put herself on the list - you must have been posting at the same time! Might be an idea to update the list with your date in the right place - then you move up as people give birth.

Take a look at the tiger.gov.uk website. It should tell you what you're entitled to. Otherwise Citizen's Advice Bureau may be able to advise.

You could start your maternity leave early (I think you can do this 15 weeks before your EDD) and be on maternity leave for 9 months (recently extended from 6 if your EDD is after 1 April 07) to help tide you over.

Depends what your T&Cs at work are, but the minimum you should get is the statutory rate, about £108/week. That way you don't have to resign and you buy yourself time to relocate and settle up here. If work will pay you for a certain no of weeks that would help too.

George's Mum; you'll probably be entitled to maternity pay for up to 39 weeks, (the law has recently changed, this is if the due date is after 1st April 2007). It's paid at 90% of your wage for the first six weeks and then it is 108.85 a week for the next 33 weeks. If you want to leave earlier than eleven weeks before the due date, try using up your holiday entitlement and adding it on to the beginning of your leave.

Wow! What a beautiful picture!

I think I feel more attractive now in my "elephantine" state than pre-bump. And since I carry it all out front, I still have the same curvy waist I had pre-bump. And my DH keeps telling me this too... He's very good like that - keeps giving little compliments like that which makes me feel even better about myself. :T I'm just looking forward to getting shod of the extra weight I've put on elsewhere:mad: like my legs... And holding baby of course. Baby first, then worry about the weight. Later. A lot later.:D

Ah yes, the pie stage Noodlebutty, I remember it well! I was about 28 weeks before anyone said that I actually looked pregnant. People on the street must have wondered whether I'd just had one too many Starbucks muffins! Growth has been phenomenal since about 30 weeks though.

Doesn't seem fair that you don't look pregnant but you can't get into 'normal' clothes. Have to say I'm getting major jealousy about high street clothes at the moment. Bring on the non-elasticated waists!! (Am sat here trying to convince myself that I'm a sexy, curvy woman in my trakkie bottoms and oversized t-shirt...)

Maow425 - your hubby sounds like a real honey, lucky you. Mine's pretty good too, nice to have your ego stroked when the scales scream "ouch!" when you get on them!!!
