    Afternoon Diary,

Just on with cooking tea so having a little catch up!

So my plans for this morning went out of the window when my friend text at 9pm last night to ask if she could call over at 10am this morning before girls went to the party. Haven't seen her for ages so postponed bathroom cleaner and enjoyed a cuppa and a catch up with her instead :D. House has had a quick hoover round and bleach down toilets... that will do until tomorrow.

Took kids to party so that was them entertained and fed for 2 hours. Bought a latte for me which was £2.10 so not too badly priced. Needed petrol on the way home, was hoping the money I put in earlier in week would last but we've been out and about quite a bit so unfortunately not. Put £25 in and will put the rest in next week when I get paid.

Rung Sky when I got home and all they could offer was a measly £2.80 off for 10 months!! So I just want to double check DH is fully onboard re cancelling and then il ring back. When I think we could save over £300 a year on the TV alone that makes me think its just not worth it especially when we have freeview on all our TV's anyway and these are the channels I most watch. Would be sad for the kids loosing their channels but they will just have to get over it. My mum wouldn't have considered my feelings when cancelling things!! I think its just the unknown though as we've had sky since 2002 when we bought our first house. I suppose we can always go back if we hate it that much ha!!

Then I've got my ironing up to date, just need to put girls stuff away.

Tea is veg kievs, potatoes and peas for me and fish, hm chips and beans for DH and the kids.

Not much planned for this weekend and nothing much more to report.

Hope everyones ok, hoping for at least 1 NSD either tomorrow or Sunday! xx

  • Hi Mummy hope you are all well.

We cancelled Bt vision last year, but I have subscribed to NOWTV we have the entertainment package, think it costs us about £5 a month kids love it as they can still watch all there american carp (jessie, sam and kat and a whole load of others) I love it as there are loads of box set dramas that are on sky atlantic, also there is no contract and you can cancel at anytime, might be worth looking at.
  • Just checked its £6.99 a month I think we got the first 3 months for £5 a month.

This is what holds me back Pennywise the kids and their programmes although like I said maybe we should just go for it?!

Thanks for the info on now TV, which just so happens is powered by Sky anyway!!! DH is going to research it and we might go down that route and see how we get on x

Just checking can you record onto the now TV box? x

  • Not sure about being able to record, we don't have a box as we have a smart TV.
  • We thought the kids would hate not having sky but we still get quite a few kids channels anyway cbbc, citv, pop for example so they are quite happy with these.

Sounds like you've had a busy but lovely day, I can't believe there's only 3 days left of the holidays it gone far too quickly!

    Enjoy your weekend, C x

    Thanks Penny and Chrysalis.

Pennywise, we have a smart TV too but its only certain ones with the app.

Chrysalis, I'm sure its probably the thought thats worse than actually doing it.

The NowTv is looking the most likely but I am going to ring sky tomorrow and try my luck as they have a package for brand new customers thats £10 BB and NowTV. I don't think they will let us take this out as I've tried clicking through on the website and it says we can't as we have sky tv already. Will try my luck and play hard ball. Think we are going to have to say right cancel our subscription and sit tight as to what they come up with. This seems the only way with them. If they don't play ball we will go to BT as they have cashback and gift card offers at the mo which are also tempting.

I really don't want to lose the recording facility either, but for over £300 a year I think I could cope!

    xx

    Morning Diary,

Ive done it.... cancelled the Sky! Well ended up staying for the phone and BB as they offered me 12m free BB so can't argue with that. DH is adamant we do not offer anything for TV and get a NowTV box. Will see what happens if they ring me! If they offered me an offer I couldn't resist then maybe.... We only had the £28 month package anyway so not sure they will see us as a high target as were not paying £100 like some people.

I hadn't even got off the phone and I had an emailing saying I could change my mind ha!!

Nothing much else to report. Hope all ok x
