    Morning Diary,

Well quite a disappointing night if im honest, the only good thing was the whole meal nly cost us £20 due to my complaining!!! Tbh im not even happy about getting more than half the bill knocked off, im annoyed that it wasnt my kind of a place haha!!!
Basically we used to go to an Italian restaurant down the road, we had been going 10 years and we loved it. With the recession and the owners being quite old it had to close down and my poor DH was gutted. Anyway, someone has recently bought the building and opened a really fancy italian restaurant and it just isnt for me. I never realised until last night how much the personal touch means to me when going out for a meal. 4 people came by our table and not one asked DH the wanted a drink, they didnt ask how our starters were if we were happy with them and so on. They have just opened so I feel bad as they will be finding their feet but I felt they needed to know these things so I told them!!!!! The owner was stood right behind listening to every word I was saying and he quickly scribbled out this bill, whispered in my ear he had heard all of that and he was only charging me £20! If that were me I would have taken the time to take that feedback on board but I get the feeling he didnt really care! Anyway, dont think we will be going back there again!!!! The food was expensive and when you are paying that kind of money its not just about the food its about the whole experience IMO!

Thanks for all your posts yesterday, DD2 is much better today! She was last sick at 8am yesterday so shes ok to go to school tomorrow with the 48 hour rule... yesssss haha!!!! Need to write my letter to Mr A's but im just going to hang fire sending it incase they do take the amount out of my account and then that will add even more weight to my argument :rotfl:!
DFW the slot was £1.50 more expensive so not massively more but still more all the same!

So ive just rung sk* to cancel movies as we currently have them on half price. Totally forgot about the flipping 30 day cancellation thing so im hoping we might just scrape through as it was just before Christmas we took them out.

Its looking a bit overcast out today and BBC says its going to rain at 11am so I dont think im going to peg out. Will put the darks over the radiators for this evening and use the TD for our bedding which ive currently got in the washer.

Ive got a feeling its going to be a spendy day. DH wants to go to a local out of town shopping centre to get a new battery for his watch. It was a really expensive watch so it needs doing properly and cant risk taking it to a small backstreet kind of a place! Im thinking I might get a new phone ! Ive had my current one for 2.5 years now and it is getting really slow and it does run my life for me! So ive seen one for £17 a month which I dont think is bad and ive worked out that this is cheaper than forking out for a pay as you go phone and topping up £10 a month for 2 years. Will have a look and see what I think.
So will see what the day brings !!!

Have a lovely Sunday all xx

    Afternoon Diary,

Were back and im feeling a bit disappointed! Feels like the weekend of disappointment for me this!
Couldnt find a phone I really really like and I was honest with myself and thought I want one just for a new one not because I really the like phones I was looking at. Martin would be proud :money:! So im carrying on for a bit longer with this phone and il see what happens. If it breaks il have to get a new one but sticking with this for the minute.

DH got his watch battery sorted for £12.99 so not too bad.

Im just really down about the whole spending thing nowadays, not sure if others feel the same. I am totally put off the idea of spending due to how we got here in the first place and even though its hard earned cash we are using it just doesnt feel right! I only feel truely happy spending in the flipping supermarket! Came home with nothing! I spent £3.90 on the kids a smoothie each!

Anyway, tomorrow is another day, im sure it will be better although it is Monday so maybe not! xx

  • Totally sympathise on the spending front. :( Gets me down all the time. Things run their course in the house and need replacing and I fret over everything. I've even put off buying a new toilet brush because I don't want to part with a fiver :o

This week really seems to be a carp one for a lot of us. Here is to next week being much better
    MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. May 1st, £116, 123, June 1st, £115,536, New mortgage added for extension- £165,000 July 1st!

    Total- £1562.23
Goal pay off 1% of current mortgage in 1 year. £1650

    EF- first goal £300
  • Hi mummy, The weekends over and I hope you have a better week.

I can sympathise too on the spending, I can spend a fortune on grocery shopping and not feel guilty, but yet try and spend money on something for myself and I find it so hard to part with the cash.

    Morning Diary,

Happy Monday! What a miserable cold Monday it is!!!

DFW and Pennywise, thanks for your comments its nice to know others feel the same! Mental isnt it that we feel bad about spending on ourselves. Our debt wasnt even made up of lavish spending it was trying to put petrol in the car and food on the table whilst on maternity leave and then everything else that follows.

Anyway, this week is another week!
So last night DH managed to p!ss me off, wont bore you with the details but it wasnt about money for a change! To keep out of his way I was super organised and made the packed lunches for today, healthy chicken salad for me :A! I also wrote DD's dinner money cheque and got the uniforms sorted out. Good job as I didnt get up until after 7.30am this morning.

Then hes annoyed me again this morning as I spent ages looking for the car keys which I dont have time to do in a morning anyway, tried to ring him... no answer! They were in his coat pocket in the garage !!!!!!! He really annoys me when he does this, if I went off to work and had moved his bike key there would be absolute hell to pay. So I had to walk the girls to school, luckily its only a 5 minute walk and then come back for the car. What a nightmare!

My cleared balance hasnt changed yet so I cant tell whether Mr A's have charged me or whether its just holding against my account and will drop off later in the week.

Nothing much more to report. Ill be taking DD2 to her swimming lesson tonight so quick tea today. Think thats all really.

    Catch up soon xx

    Morning Diary,

Just popping in for a quick catch up!

Its DH's payday today, happy payday to all those end of month paydayers :D!! The joint account looks absolutely loaded today, not for long though as most things go out tomorrow!! So DH ended up with £55 extra in his wage which is made of the tax code change and the extra payrise he got last month. Ive told him this morning, this extra will be paying towards our holiday which needs paying by the end of next month! So im trying to pay bit by bit towards it and my plan seems to be working. Then it will save up towards spending money. Planning on saving £500 to take with us which includes the extra petrol money. Im hoping we wont use that much as we will be taking food with us. Fingers crossed we can bring some of it back towards the debt :).

So yesterday was NSD6! That will be it, 6 for the month as il get the kids an icecream after school and im getting my nails done tonight aswell. Must do better in May! From my previous diaries it seems to me like April and May for some reason are really expensive months in our house, not sure why though!

Mr A's still holding that money from my account. Just rung the bank but they cant do anything... apparently I authorised that money to go from my account, I was getting a bit irrate because in fact I didnt authorise it since they didnt bring my shopping . Am constructing my letter to Mr A's right now and will be mentioning all this in my letter. The bank said ive to wait til Friday which will be 7 days and then ring back if it hasnt dropped off. Im pretty p!ssed off actually because I dont know many people who could be without £100 for 7 days! Luckily its my shopping money for the rest of the month so they'd best remove that authorisation and sharpish or else ha!!

Think thats all from me! Catch up soon xx

Just updated my signature and I am soooo desperate to get into the £11k's but I need to keep the money ive got set aside for my MOT! Will ring the mechanic on Friday and see when it can be booked in, cant be MOT'd before 10th May or id lose out on time as its not due until 10th June.

So ive just done some quick calculations and next month I will only be about £20 away from the £11's so I will pay it out of my shopping money if I have to, just to get there haha!!!

Im so looking forward to our holiday but I cant help but feel like that would be an extra £1k towards the debt. We do need a decent break though so I am not going to dwell on it. Im very much looking forward to it I have to say!

Enough waffle from me  xx

Oh mummy I feel your pain......I remember when OH 'hid' the car keys and I phoned him just as he was about to start a training session (I didn't know where he was!). Of course they were in the drawer...NOT that's why I was ringing him, anyway he didn't seem bothered so I just went off on one and all the people in the room heard me......the instructor said all mobiles to switched off except OH's as it sounded like there was a crisis.....how embarrassing!!:o

Know what you mean about the holiday, but you are not actually adding to the debt.....that's the way I'd look at it anyway.:)

Hope Mr A's sort themselves out and soon!! xx

    Morning Diary,

Wow what a difference a few days can make to the weather!
Its absolutely glorious here today, so glad I got my washing in last night so it could be pegged out!!!!

So last night, I got home from work at 4pm after picking kids up etc and it was still nice so I pegged my washing out. Can you believe it dried in a few short hours and it wasnt even that warm.
Had tea and then went out for my nails done. Got my toes done too this time in a bright red colour hoping to be able to wear my sandals and it worked :j.
Got home and me and DH had a little chat about money! Weve decided to get to a £1000 emergency fund and then rather than trying to save and pay off in chunks we will just pay the money we would be saving off the debt each month. It does make sense really as we wont incur as much interest and we hardly earn anything on the amount we have got!
So were currently at around £730 so after next payday we will start paying chunks off. Some months that will mean we are paying around £850 off the debt so we should see a good progress with it! Ive just done my spreadsheet up to August 14 to make sure that we can do it and we should be able to providing the car doesnt blow up or something!
Ive included Christmas, the kids and DH's birthday and uniforms etc in here so I think ive thought of everything.
I feel like finally we know where we are going with it (as weve changed our tact a few times over the years!!) and we know what we need to do to get to where we need to get to. Plus we now have realistic budgets which is something we were going wrong with previously. Not giving yourself enough shopping money and then having to take from somewhere else.

Hi Alice, you are so right re the not adding to the debt to go on holiday. Its the first time weve ever taken the kids away for a full week, weve always just done the Monday to Friday things but we are going quite a way, its about a 5 hour drive from here to Devon. I told DH how much we should have together for our spending money and he was shocked that we would have so much and hes also hoping to come back with change haha!!!
Oh man that is funny about the trainer with your DH that time! Bloody men, who'd have em :rotfl:!!!!

So I wrote a lovely long letter to Mr A's yesterday and posted it on my way home. They are still holding my money  but need to wait until Friday until the bank will do anything.

Think thats all from me really. Ive parked in the free car park today but did treat myself to a latte on the way in so thats my parking money gone! Im out tonight will some old work friends which will be nice to have a catch up.

    Hope everyones ok xx
