    Hi Mummy

I'm sorry that you're having such a bad time at the moment with childcare issues, I'm sure that you've already thought of these previously but here are a few of my thoughts

    1) Have you got a friend that could help you out for the time being and you repay the favour when you go back to been part time?
    2) Will work allow you to work from home 1 or 2 days a week and then you wouldn't have to pay for childcare every day?
    3) Can you take any work home to do on an evening to reduce the number of hours that you need to be in the office?

I hope that you get something sorted xxx
  • Evening diary,

Thanks for your support ladies, as working mummies you know how tough it is some times!

Livvy, my DD doesnt qualify for those until next April! Im looking at around £700 in childcare costs a month which ive obviously not got a spare £700 knocking around!!

Choo, thanks for your input. In answer to your questions:

    1. This is what ive been doing for around 4 weeks now and I can just see people getting annoyed if I carry on asking.

    2. I can work from home but I find it really difficult with DD2 around, shes only 2 so quite needy!

    3. Ive also been doing this to get my hours in, im absolutely exhausted and cant carry on!!

Ive asked work if I can finish early on Tues and Thurs to do the school run myself and theyve pretty much said yes. This will mean working Tues and Thurs evenings to make up my hours. Im going to ask mil if she can manage the 3 days and take it from there.

Absolutely shattered so early night is in order!! Catch up soon xx

  • Really feel for you - it's so mentally and emotionally draining when you are trying to sort out childcare without letting the kids know that it is problematic and without it impacting on the work/life balance thing too much.

It does sound as though your work is supportive and accommodating which is fab - you are obviously a valued employee :)

Get an early night and make sure you look after yourself and don't run yourself into the ground. Could you take the odd days leave or are they too precious with school holidays to try and cover off?

  • Hi mummy, so sorry your having a rough time at the minute, sending you hugs.
  • Morning everyone,

Fuzzy, work are very supportive I know im lucky that way, it works both ways aswell and I do work the occassional Saturday etc.

    Thanks Pennywise x

Well I spoke to MIL last night to try and broach the subject and it just wasnt the right time. I have a feeling we are still going to be in this situation next week. DH and I have both agreed that we will wait until next week before just making rash decisions. Her own DS isnt even at home cos she cant even make him tea etc. I know shes ill and I feel really bad for moaning but its just hard work.

Just checked the bank accounts and everything in order. Looking forward to payday on Monday though :D. Going to complete my shopping list this evening and then do my shopping online too. Its the big shop and it just took me too long last time I did it!! Im hoping it will be slightly cheaper than the usual £100 as I bought extra washing powder last month when it was on offer so ive got all this in already.

Still no toluna or quidco, im getting really sick of looking now !!

Havent even done any surveys for over a week as ive just not had the time at all.

    Right best get off xx

  • When Little Itsa was small I ended up working in a restaurant/hotel/bar as I didn't have anyone for childcare and therefore working was actually making me worse off per month after I had paid out for everything.

Hope you have managed to sort everything out :D
    Just keep swimming!
  • Morning diary,

Sorry ive not been around mega busy with work and home etc! I wanted to apologise whilst I remember about not posting in others diaries, just not had the time recently but will have a good catch up at the weekend.

Well nothing too exciting to report. 4 days until payday :j.
Ive just logged on to Toluna and it says my voucher request has been processed now so im assuming its in the post to me.
Still no Quidco, ive been waiting since April for that!

DH has taken over the house work and ironing recently as ive been too busy. Been using the dryer more as well since we cant peg out cos it rains and we havent put the heating on yet. This is going to sound a bit random but it does begin to get a little chilly in the living room after about 8 so ive started lighting the candles and that does the trick !! I dont know if its the thought of heat but it really does take the chill off... im sure 3 candles arent that powerful!!

Really pleased that weve managed to get to nearly the end of September without even thinking about putting the heating on. See if im saying the same next week!!

No difference in the childcare issue so wont go into that.

DD has been having school dinners and she gets them free for the first term as like a tester for them or something. Im not complaining as it means the yoghurts etc that ove bought are lasting longer.

Did my online shopping the other night. Managed it all with delivery for £94 which im pleased with. Got all stocked up so looking forward to it being delivered on Monday now.

Right think thats about it from me. Will catch up later xx
