Nixi I have had to put her off til tomorrow as all we have got to plant is not suitable till April. So will get some bits and do some gardening tomorrow. We already had plans for this afternoon so she is happy enough and her and DS have been having a mega play together thing going on with lots of imagination dens and contraptions. so she isn't upset about the gardening - phew. though might have to wash the gardening knickers tonight so she can wear them again for gardening tomorrow!!

  • Afternoon all,

Right benn out, done the shopping, paid the bills and got the kids sortedfor the next couple of hours!

Few rules to fostering, first is that you are not allowed to foster kids that are older than your own ,second is that unless they are related by blod, they have to have their own room.

Would love to do it, but DD's are too young and tbh, if I did do it, I wouldn't want a baby, there is too much competition for them anyway, but I would want an older child.

My best mates mum hsa been a foster carer for as long as I can remember, but she only took in under 3's after the teenager she tried had serious issues (police round all hours of the day and ngiht because of him, he went a bit off the rails when his mum got out of prison and instead of coming to get him and his brother, she did a runner). She ended up adopting the last 2 though, one has Feotal Alcohol syndome, so after 3 years and a dozen families handing her back because they couldn't cope, she gave in an adopted her.

haha DD's quote of the day "see, see mummy, look, its a blimey big poo"

    sorry, made me chuckle!

Plan for the rest of the day, tidy house, cook OH a meal for tomorrow, pack my bags and wrap the pressies, we are off first thing in the morning!

Cagne - if you work on your computer Ctrl + Shift, will make us disappear instantly!

Evenstar - she will grow out of it hopefully, don't let her see she is getting to you, it will only make her worse, ignore her and give full ttention to your beautiful granddaughter, only talk to her when she is nice. and....

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :j:bdaycake::j

    oops sorry essay!

Mambury I couldn't be a social worker or counsellor as I don't necessarily agree with their views on people its hard to explain but I would feel a bit compromised.
Not that I have anything against either group of people. I think social workers often have a hellish job to do and are very constrained in what they can and cannot do. ie see a family in need but cannot help because they don't meet the threshold etc.
I couldn't work in those circumstances.
with counselling I have an ever evolving view on people and relationships etc and would find subscribing to one theory or method demoralising.
Guess thats why I don't really know what I can do - I'm just awkward!!!

  • jo - there are lots of different types of social workers, I am looking into training as one once the kids are old enough to go to school. My problem is that I need to be challenged, and I think finding loopholes and ways to help people is about as good as I am going to get without giving away too many hours in the day. It will always be different. I am trying to suus out the best way about getting into the police side of things.

What do you like to do? Or rather what hours, type of people and type of work would you like to do? Work from there.

Working for myself is going to be great, but once DDs are i school, I want out, I don't know anyone round here and the best bet for me is to go out, get a job and start talking to adults again!

sorry to 'but in' guys, i have posted this on the motoring thread, but know that there is always someone around on here. and you are all very wise.

need help. arrrggghhhh still got no car! me and the baby are climbing the walls!!!

hi, i am currently waiting for the complaints dept at renault to call me back, and just after a bit of advice....

    I own a 53' plate renault megane.

on the 17th feb got in the car put the key fob in and got a message on the dash saying 'key not detected'
phoned renault the next day, as it broke at 9.00 at night!! and they said wiggle the key fob around, did so, no joy...
had a look on the internet and discovered this has happened to LOADS of people and a new key is needed at the grand sum of £188 from renault.

anywho... car taken (22nd feb) to an arnold clark dealer to find out what the fault was... low and behold it IS the key!
they advised 5-7 days for a key as it comes from france and needs to be programmed to the car blah blah blah....
still waiting 10 WORKING days later. no chance of courtesy car, they only have 3 and they are all booked out!!
no chance of a discount on the repairs!! £188 for the key!! £120 to get the car to arnold clark!
no chance of reimbursment if i hire a car, no chance of reimbursment for taxi/bus fares. not even a sorry!!!

phoned this morning for an update, still no key.
had a bit of a rant, the girl gave me the number for renault. so here i am waiting for a call back. does anyone have any suggestions on what i should say? or think ill be sucessful in getting them to pay for a hire car or discount the repairs (especially with it being a 'common' fault???

Jo, know what you mean, was thinking of doing social work but my MIL is a social worker and although I like the idea of helping people the rules and methods seem a bit off sometimes; even though I realise they have been researched and trialled etc, I think I would find it hard using methods I didn't wholeheartedly agree with. Thinking about going into occupational therapy now (this week lol).
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

MummyandPaige, are you looking into probation work type thing? My friend (also a social worker) was after doing that, she went for a couple of interview, she said the work experience she did in probation while training was very challenging and interesting :)

  • Something like that yes. Can't be doing with all the crp rules that come with things like kids, but think it would be interesting to do other social work. Working for myself would be prefect, if I wasn't just me by myself! Heyho! OU to get whatever certs I need, then will be good to go when DD2 is old enough for school.
