Have done a quiz and an exciting activity. At last.
Why can't we go back to the days of dictation? What was wrong with a bit of dictation? Remember rote learning our timestables? I can still remember them, and my Latin too, it worked. At the grand age of 39 i might be losing my marbles but i still remember my amo, amas and amat. Why do i have to stress myself doing fancy, dancy stuff????
Time for a cup of tea!!!!!
PS imagine me like this with sheriffs hat on top.
Goodness swb - I didn't think anyone as young as you learnt Latin!!
I agree with you on the dictation and rote learning. I'm in my 50s and can instantly recall my multiplication facts to 12x12 (we had to learn the 12x table because there were 12 pennies in a shilling) and I can remember my Latin too - nominative, vocative, accuative, genitive, dative and ablative.
PS I think you'd need a 20 gallon sheriff's hat, a 10 gallon would be too small for all that hair)0 -

Pixie chick and Nanny25k i know my nominative, accusative, dative, ablative and genitive too. Oh my gosh. Remember dominus, dominum, domino etc??? The mind boggles!!!! I will be able to chat up a roman soldier but
why can't i remember my blooming confidence?
Well it is in my 10 gallon hat now. Hairdresser won't be happy.
Can i get Nid to do my lesson for me????
Seriously brain is shutting down. Will be up at 3 to finish this nonsense off. Goodnight all. Happy dreams.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

Hi everyone,
All this reminiscing about lessons and schools is bringing me out in a rash!
And I can remember pennies (we never called them pence!) - bet it was before you were born, SW!
Love the idea of the big hat for all that blue hair!
Am off to bed shortly - night all (apart from NID, who I suspect will be working all through the night! What it is to be young .....)"What does not kill me makes me stronger". Frederich Nietzsche, 1844-1900.0 -

Just a thought Ann - if you need an 'excuse' for changing your number when telling family and friends, just say you were getting nuisance calls and BT recommended it - cause that is what they do
As for Latin, we did it for 2 years and then after exams all those who failed got moved to class C (third class) but at least they renamed it year 3NL (Non Latin) so at least I did not have to tell my Dad that I had been shunted from class A to class C !!!!! I would have been afraid to go home!!! However I do still remember Amo Amas Amat ......... but that is as far as I go .....Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12
