You choose what broadband package you want when you sign up. Their cheapest package has a 10GB limit.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Hi guys, I'm looking to switch from just Freeview and have looked at BT vision. At the moment there is an offer that the box is free with the two of the packages and then an optional one-off £9.99 for the ESPN card. I have looked at Quidco for cashback and as I understand it you get £65 back. I hope this is helpful to someone.

Thanks jamespir, I know you can buy Freeview + recorders but at the moment I am paying £28.99 per month to BT for broadband, so it might be worth it for me to switch to get the on demand and the ESPN for my husband.

Couple of minor points you may already know.

You *have* to have BT broadband, won't work with anyone elses broadband

If you cancel or change the broadband then the box will work until it's rebooted, after that it won't be able to connect to the BT server and it's an expensive paperweight. Without the connection it will not boot up at all.

Theres no market for them used so you will be throwing them away, there is no mod or hack that currently lets you use it without a BT subscription other than as a very basic freeview box.

Pity really it seems a capable box that could make a cracking media player box, it has USB, Ethernet and a hard drive, but I've had three I've thrown away, bought manily to get the powerline adapters cheap but the vision box is useless if you don't have a BT line and a BT Vision account

I understand the downloads for Vision are not counted in the allowance. So you can rent a HD file and not stuff your allowance for the month.

Yeah sorry, I should have stated that the Vision content has no impact on your internet download limit.

I used to buy these "throw away" boxes from ebay and just rip them open and remove the hard drive. They have a really good PC IDE hard drive in them which always sells well on ebay for £30+

Totally rediculous statement. You obviously don't know how to use the service or have never tried it. If you had you would have realised the part of the service you actually pay for. So I take it you get Lost series 5 on your freeview???
