BT Vision is it any good ? its on offer at £6.99 a month plus £15 for the box &£9 one off for ESPN card any advice ?

Would help if you said what TV services you wanted it for? It's basically a broadband delivered on-demand service, It's not a substitute for satellite or cable subscription only channels.

I have just got BT vision on the same deal as you have been offered. It seemed good value and worth a try for 12 months. My early impressions are that the PVR box is excellent. I don't know what you already had, but I had a Freeview box + HDD analogue tuner. This has 2 Digital tuners so, for example, I can record 2 freeview programmes at the same time and watch an on demand or recorded programme.All the equipment seems to work well if you follow the instructions regarding the powerline adapters( if required). The free ESPN card was the clincher for me as it gives me a few live matches to watch and it normally costs £9.99 for this service alone. The on demand stuff looks ok, but it obviously depends on personal taste. There is a vast library of good series but most are repeats. Having said that, I haven't seen many of them first time around as they were on Sky etc. The films are nothing special but, if you don't go to the cinema , they say BT get the films quicker than Sky( not sure how true this is?). All in all, it seems worth the upfront costs to get ESPN and the box for £25. At the moment, unless they were to offer me the same deal in 12 months, I will probably go to pay as you go which means you get to keep the box. Another possibility is they may upgrade the box to existing customers next year for free or a small fee, to get Freeview HD.

Hi Homer thank you for that & your time,at present i only have sky freeview,you cant record on it,I am looking to buy a dvd recorder,so this BT Vision box looks ok,Thanks for your reply there was plenty of info,good luck with yours.

Just remember that the Vision Box uses your normal terrestrial aerial to get all your normal channels. Is it good enough to get the Freeview channels?

Have you thought about going the Freesat+ route? Obviously you'd need 2 feeds from the dish if you haven't already.
There is the initial outlay in buying the box, but then there's no subscription.

You can't get Freeview via Sky, it is a terrestial service. If you want to record from Freeview, a PVR is the best way to go, something like the Humax 9300T .

we are looking at the deal with BT but arent sure which channels you get with Vision. We have Sky+ at the moment but ofcourse dont watch most channels but use the recording facility a lot. We only really watch 24 on Sky one and a few other bits here and there.

Also the internet on the bundle - is there a usage allowance? Sky have just put mine up to everyday costing a furhter £5 a month but it feels like its gone slower since?

Not sure if to change over to BT now to get the ESPN too - OH and his footy.

All you get are the same channels as Freeview. It's only the on-demand content that is additional.
