Brilliant! Thankyou from me, even it it doesn't come to anything, it is a step in the right direction!
Is there anything I can do to help? (bearing in mind I obviously was treated well so can't use personal experience, simply the experience of others and my past experience of Tesco CS)If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!0 -
I will not be shopping at TESCO's again. EVER!
Terrible customer service. I still haven't had my full refund, or email.
I shall be taking them to small claims if they don't. I have no life thus have the time.Be like me... Only use Tesco for items that you cannot get cheaper elsewhere... if you pay more for an item elsewhere you are cutting off your nose to spite your face so they still win!
:T:T:T
Oh and please please please let us/me know if you do take them to court... I have the time but not good enough healthIf a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!0 -

me too
i am really upset because i like shopping in tesco
been their royal customer since i do my own shopping
at the point, in fact even days after i made the order, it still showing as 3 for £2 on thier website, how can they just ignore it0 -
I was looking for that link just now, thankyou, you saved me a job.
Actually, is it possible to complain to the OFT? I'm thinking that if it is, every single person who had any restrictions imposed AFTER the order had been dispatched from store (as by then you had paid for those items and formed a contract which as far as you knew at that point were 3 for £2 as very very clearly stated on their webite) should put in a complaint to the OFT. That would apply whether you were informed to refuse the delivery, whether you have had to return the delivery since or whether you had a limit imposed.
Tesco bigwigs will never conform to the law and guidelines by choice, so we need to find another way!
I had my delivery last night - total of 15 items, 3 different products and none of which were above the so called 9 limit. I got no joy from CS other than they would 'honour' 9 and I could return the rest. I'm going to email a complaint in and see what happens then - going to point out the OFT and the guidance re limits. Dunno if it will do any good but I will keep everyone posted if I succeed!
I'd like to see Martin do a poll on the front page asking us to state how much we all saved!0 -

Because Tesco are so big that they think they are above the law.
Blatant false advertising... in fact, somewhere way back in this thread, someone came up with the legal term for what they are doing but I forget now what it was. Tesco were able to change the store systems over night but it took them a further 24 hours+ to change a bit of html on the website. There is no way that was reasonable, they obviously would have a permanent team to run the that website and they could have done it within minutes!
Oh yeah, I was ironing......If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!0 -

Not sure the word was steal but yes it was something like that
Edit: I think it was "bait and switch" but I prefer "bait and steal"
2nd edit: Actually I'm not sure this quite qualifies for bait and switch, but it's pretty close!
3rd edit: or maybe it does apply:
bait-and-switch definition
☆ bait·-and-switch (bāt′'n swic̸h′)
adjective
of, related to, or employing an illegal or unethical sales technique in which a seller lures customers by advertising an often nonexistent item at a bargain price and then attempts to switch their attention to more expensive itemsIf a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!0 -
Hi
Got my refund through but I think that the "only honouring 9" policy is against the law. I am a lawyer but I'm on maternity leave and I can't be bothered to fight with them.
If anyone is interested I work for a large multinational company and I do believe that most big companies probably have a (secret) policy - except for London Underground - whereby all claims issued under the Small Claims Court Procedure are automatically settled (paid) where tha amount claimed is less that a certain amount. This amount depends on the company but I guess that with Tesco they wouldn't contest a claim for £100. So if everyone wanted to issue a claim (you can do it online) that might sting them a bit? The form is very simple to fill in and only 2 pages long.
Maybe someone could do a "test" claim to see if they pay up?
Actually now that I think about it may do this myself. There must be a clause somewhere in the Sale of Goods Act to cover this.
Any Commercial lawyers out there want to help me draft a standard Particulars of Claim? Surely it's breach of contract? The goods were offered and acccepted, so the contract was formed when the "confirm order" was pressed? May have to check the T's & C's.0 -
For people who are having problems my tactic was to call them back and just speak to a different CS and not mention anything about any previous calls. I asked what was the status with my refund in a calm friendly manner (say this even if nothing has been offered yet). The CS looked at my order and I said 'oh I think someone must have made a mistake there should be a refund of ££££'. I told them what to refund.
My approach is to TELL them what should be done rather than ASK (but nicely).
I read that someone had been told a note had been put on their account about 9 items. I had this refund first. Call back and be blahsay about it and say it was a mistake while quickly moving on to I should have had £££ refunded. If you want add the delivery on to the amount. If you need to mention delivery charges again tell them you should have this refunded, don't wait for them to offer it you.
If you sense CS is looking in to it too much or it's not going your way just say I've got to just do someting I'll call you back and try a different CS. As wrong as it is, it really does depend on who picks up the phone.
Sorry for the long post and I know it's easier to say than do but it does work.0
