Does anyone have any tips to sticking with it and not backsliding? How did you get past the idea of cleaning when it looks clean?!
Any tips gratefully received!
Sticking with the thread and doing the different lists each day helps - the lists change slightly every week so often there are jobs you havent done for ages.
you dont need to clean if its already 'clean' -thats then your time so maybe you need to think about a hobby as a reward for getting all your work done.
have you read post 1 ? it explains how this thread works and we like to try to work mon to fri so we have the weekends off - doesnt always work!!!
Maybe you just havent found the right routines for yourself yet.
Hope you come and join us

debtdesperado what works for me is that I try and keep on top of stuff because I have to. I know if I don't the mould soon re-grows on the windows, and the mess piles back up scarily quickly. I always regret having a day off because the  dog hair is everywhere and it is just grim. I make myself do a minimum of half an hour every day - the so called 'dailies' - for me this is hoover downstairs, fill the DW, WM/TD on and a quick wipe of the kitchen and bathroom so it never gets really dirty. If I have more time I do the list for the day as well. The lists on here do help me a lot - and I am a lot more structured for using them. Every now and then I try and strike out on my own but end up coming back. I try and do the dailies before I go to work and before I switch the laptop on or they just do not happen. Instead of putting it off spend the same time getting it done - maybe have a set time each day to do stuff if that works for you?
Thanks Toots - I have now shared it with SS1, DH and DS2. No doubt they will be ten times worse than me and will slope off to bed for the rest of the weekend

TBH I like to get stars; it's become a point of pride for me to get them, which is why I'm going to get the spare room done tomorrow instead of saying s*d it, I'm ill today, I'll leave it.
I wondered a bit about cleaning what already looks clean, but I've found that if I use a clean cloth, and look how grubby it is after I've used it, I rrealise that dirt DOES come back that quickly (Milton Keynes being the Dust Bowl of England), and having realised that, I don't mind doing it so much.
Sorry if that seems a bit of a ramble - head still throbbing - but I hope it helps. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Well done on sticking with decluttering for a year I am impressed. I discovered the Flylady back in January and became so impressed with myself at having shiny sinks (hubby thought I had lost the plot when he came out of work at 10pm to my a text telling him I had shiny sinks).
I raved about it to anyone who would listen but sadly I lost my mojo and have gone back to a cluttered untidy house again. I have come across this thread whilst looking for something else and am starting to be inspired again. SO I would say my tip would be to read the posts here every day and that should keep you from backsliding.
One tip I would possibly say is don't turn on the computer unless you have done your dailies lol as I know where my problems start - the 'Making cards' thread on these forums - love you really ladies. I finish work and go on just to catch up and then start to blog hop and then it is suddenly time for bed. Kate :hello:0 -
valli well done, I'll aspire to achieve your greatness!!!:A
rosepink well done on the 2lb and all the other achievements this week:A
toots hope you ok and thanks for your lovely posts, i've struggled to keep up with the thread this week and your big posts are a lovely help:A
pigpen did you get your school? hope so
debtdesperado i record how clean is your house and when i fell in a CBA mood I watch an episode and it spurs me on! Coming on here is a great help too but my danger is becoming OCD about the stars and not doing anything for me so I am trying this week to find more of a balance.
I have been to my allotment today and helped on the school one too. I dug a raised bed with a childs sized fork and now my back and bum are aching! I'm 5 foot 8 so I wont do that again!
Am off to the allotment again tomorrow as it is the school's open day so may help a bit more or just take some planning photos of mine.

debtdesperado I am onto my 3rd week following this and it was difficult to start with but as I did more it got easier. This week it hasn't taken me anywhere near as long. I am another one obsessed with the stars too. I have also spent the last 3 weeks shouting at my family to keep the place tidy so now they are to scared to put it anywhere other than where it should be:rotfl:
The kids completed Fridays list but I was just to tired to do my daylies. Does it still count?Sealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -

I work term time only. So during the hols, I make a great effort to keep on top of everything and then slip a[STRIKE] lot [/STRIKE] little during term time. I never quite get to the 'house looks clean stage' unless it's through beer goggles :rotfl:. Although the lists are the same rooms every week, the list of jobs varies, so there is usually plenty for me to tackle. The sun usually encourgaes me to get the duster out as it mercilessly show up all the dust and finger marks. I tend to be more slovenly in the winter months
.
When I don't feel like I can tackle the days list, I set myself a HHC. It is amazing how much you can achieve against the clock and often it is enough to kick me into cleaning mode.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -
Pegs are to be mis matched btw....its the law.:rotfl:
Love it!
debtdesperado - we're not like that American crew - we're much nicer! Do come join ing...
Rosep - well done on the walk! And the flying! Keep it up gal
Well I'm pooped and have only just managed to sit down for dinner (home baked ham, leeks and celery in cheese sauce with veg for those who are nosy!)
Did two hours flying at NN's this afternoon. Came home, did a bit (yey!) of flying in my own home then went back to NN's for gin and gossip. Home again, start dinner.
Then find there's no hot water.
This statement so reminds me of a conversation I had with DD years ago. She phoned me at work to say "there's no hot water". I told her I'd check the boiler when I got home. Got home to find there was literally not hot water - i.e. not water coming out of the hot tap! (moral of the tale - ask the informant to state EXACTLY what they mean!)
The same situation occurred tonight.
My header tank for my hot water tank is in the loft of him upstairs so I had to wait for him to come home so I could check it.
Seems there was a problem and the header tank had completely emptied., But it sounded like it was filling up so I should have a full hot water tank soon. Vibes please that this is so!
Just finishing dinner and then going to flop for the rest of the night!
Oh, DD is doing really well after the extraction of two of her teeth. She's even pinched some of my dinner tonight because it tasted so good!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
