Bath draining very slowly

I use a crochet hook to fish out the gunk. Make sure you hold on to it tight though, or that will end up down there as well!

I recommend caustic soda. Not green, but it's cheap. Obtain from hardware store or similar. Excercise extreme caution, wear gloves, do not inhale fumes or splash onto anything you do not want to dissolve - including yourself. Mix with water as per instructions on bottle. It will get 'hot' as it dissolves. Pour down plughole, leave for 30 mins, flush with a kettle of boiling water. Hey Presto, clear plughole! Hello Ladies
I am beggin for help please. My bathtub now takes over an hour to drain after a bath. I've tried bicarb / vinegar / boiling hot water but it hasn't shifted it. I'm not big on chemicals in my house but the situation is really really bad and I am hoping you all may have ideas on how to unblock the drains without calling in a plumber
Thanks for any advice!

Well my bathroom sink was in the same sort of situation - and my father used a plunger (£3/34 odd from a DIY shop) and kept pumping it up and down and THEN left some washing soda there for 15 minutes and poured some boiling water down. Did the trick.
You could try using a suitable size crochet hook carefully poked down the drainer bit beforehand to see if theres a mass of hairs, for instance, down there that you would be able to "retrieve".0 -
We have an older thread - bath draining very slowly. I'll add this later.
Do you know what's causing the blockageWhen I took the trap of my sink recently, I found a paintbrush
 that had then held onto everything going down the sink.

When I had this prob, it was caused by a build up of shampoo/soap. I have to get tough in the end and bought some mr muscle sick unblock from home bargains (about 70p). It's fantastic!!!!0

Good old-fashioned caustic soda, but use it with care and follow the instructions exactly as they're set out on the carton.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

I know it's a chemical (but at least supposedly 'body safe') but Immac works well as it dissolves the globs of hair that tend to get stuck in the drain. Doesn't help on the lolly sticks I usually unearth whilst down thereTo be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.

Another vote for Mr Muscle & a plunger
Both worked for me, but the Immac tip sounds usefulGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
I wouldn't recommend boiling water - I cracked my (acrylic?) kitchen sink doing that and I remember someone on here some time back cracked her bathroom basin.0
