Bath draining very slowly
Comments
-
There seems to be something wrong with my bath plughole/drainage.
When I have a shower, the water takes ages to drain away and I end up standing in a shallow bath of water.
There is no hair around the plughole, but I wonder whether there is hair/debris that has got sucked down it and stuck.
If this is the case, how do I get it out?
Any suggestions?0 -
I had that same problem. find out where the water drains out if possible and then use one of those drain unblocker things
drain unblocker thing
like this one. First time I had to do it I used a thick rubber pipe with a nail through it. Just need something that will hook the ball of hair and gung that's blocking it. Have a go with a plunger as this can sometimes get it to shift."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -
try baking soda and .....
cheap coca cola...... put them down the plug hole and stand back...... cos it froths like madsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Get a cotton bud and poke one end down through the centre hole of the plughole, twirl it around and then pull it out and see what's attached
I guess you might need to use more than one cotton bud.0 -
When you have an inch or two of water in the bath -place a cloth over the overflow and hold it in place with one hand - with the heel of the other hand use plunging type motions over the plug hole. Repeat a few times and you might find that the water flows better.0

My first port of call would be good old-fashioned Soda Crystals.
Put a whole lot down - or as near to down - the plughole as possible then flush down with a kettle-full of boiling water.
If one or two goes with that don't fix the problem, try fishing with a bent wire or something.
Hope you get the problem sorted!
ps - just edited to say that the reason I put the soda down first is that I don't like the gunge that comes up when "fishing!"0 -
When I had long hair this used to happen all the time. I used a metal clothes hanger (the sort you get from dry cleaners) and bent the hook at the top until it was narrow enough to go down the plughole. It was a great way to hook things out - I used to pull out thick braids of hair that had knotted together down there0

something green.. you could pour some of the water into the garden and water the plants! i'm sure the grass n plants wouldn't mind some water....sorry ..nothing to do with blockage!!smile everyday...cos its free

Thanks guys for your suggestions.
I'm going to have a go with the wire clothes hanger when I get home because I know I have one hanging around.
If that fails, I'll try some of the other suggestions.0 -
Never tried it myself but I once read a suggestion of putting Veet/Immac, or some similar product down the plughole, if you think it's hair that's causing the blockage.0
