Bath draining very slowly

I just thought I'd update. BIL didn't get back to me so I took myself down to the DIY store, spent £2.19 and crossed my fingers I'd bought what I needed.
I put it in this evening and voila! no more water escaping out the back of the sink :T
The best £2.19 I ever spent

Congratulations, Naomim! Hope you felt a similar sense of achievement that I felt when I've managed to do something after waiting ages for one of the male members of my family to do for me :j. Lets hope that's the end of your problem with the drain - but now at least you know how to 'sort it'. May be worthwhile checking it every month or so if your daughter or yourself have very long hair. I tend to wash my hair in the shower, and also shake the towels and bath mats over the bath afterwards before rinsing the lot down the plughole. It's amazing how much hair gets caught in the plughole (and I've only got short hair).0

well done naomim - and I'll bet he'll be miffed that you didn't wait for him to fix it0

Our bath drains slowly and there is a horrible smell while it is doing it, will the previous solutions get rid of that?0

Hi everyone - I have the slow-draining bathwater problem and I'm pretty sure it's hair. As I'm the one with the long hair my husband has said I'm the one who has to deal with it.

Now, I know that I need to fish out the hairball with a coat hanger or something but I'm scared. Is it just me or does anyone else want to gag when they do stuff like this?!
Therefore I'm quite liking the immac idea. Does anyone know how long I should leave it after I've poured it down?
If that fails I'll do soda crystals and hopefully pull up a cleaner gunk of hair!

Hi guys,
I've been a lurker here for ages, but only signed up to post recently.
I have a problem with the plug hole in my bath, the past few days it seems blocked and drains veeeeerrryyyyy veeeerrrrryyy sloooowwwwwlllyy.
My shower is over the bath, so when I shower in the mornings, I end up standing almost ankle deep in water! And because it drains so slowly, the bath ends up dirtier.
I really want an OS way of unblocking it, I hate the thought of having to buy chemicals to do it.
Someone mentioned vinegar to me, which I tried but to no effect. Also been told bicarb of soda would help, but have no idea how to use that, do I mix it with that or just chuck it down the plug or what?!
Please help me! If anyone knows how to fix this I will be so so gratefulcarpe diem

Hi we had this problem not that many weeks ago, tried putting bicarb then vinegar down leaving it for about an hour then running the hot tap but only unblocked it a little , in the end I got a plunger from the pound shop and this shifted it in seconds.:DPaul Walker , in my dreams;)0

bicarb, then vinegar, ahh see I only put vinegar down by itself.
And did you just get like a spoonful of bicarb and chuck it down, or did you dilute it in any way? Feel like a such a dummy lol but no ideacarpe diem

I know it is not a chemical free solution but if you put some hair removal cream such as Immac down the plughole it will dissolve hair blockages0

ohh TudarRose didn't know that would work! I have some Nair, that would do jsut as well as Immac I guess?
I'll try the bicarb and vinegar thing first though, less chemicalthen try the Nair if it needs it.
I knew at least someone on here could help!carpe diem
