Bath draining very slowly

i do it the disgusting way im afraid. i got a pair of really sharp pointy tweezers and pull the hair gunk out (its surprisingly satisfying). i have a dossil from lakeland over the plug hole now so that most of the hair gets caught in that rather than down the plug hole.0

It's normally hair. Get an old metal coat hanger and cut it and bend to make a small hook (like a long "j"). Put this down the hole and twist it around. It's amazing what you can pull out.Je suis sabot...0

I had thought it could be hair and have had a poke about, but although I've pulled up some, the plug hole is still blocked and I can't pull up any more hair.
I used henna on my hair recently and I'm thinking a 'clump' of it has all got stuck together when rinsing out and blocked it. If you've never used henna, rinsing it out is like rinsing out mud!carpe diem :cool:

The hair removal cream trick worked well in my shower.0

With our bath, if we can't clear the blockage from above we take off the side panel and unscrew the pipe connecting the bath to the drain. Then its a pretty easy (but revolting) job to pull out the soapy hair - for that is what we always find - and reconnect the pipe. Do check the connection by filling the bath with cold water and watching it drain away before you put the side panel back on the bath.0

Hi,
I would use a plunger first.If you don't have one,maybe you can borrow one off someone,but they're not expensive.
I got a big clump of hair up when I used it;gross I know,but amazingly effective.
I now have a little metal filter that sits over the plug-hole and stops hairs from going down.
I also regularly (once every 2 weeks) pour in a small cupful of bicarb of soda,then slowly add a cup of vinegar.These two ingredients will fizz up.This helps clear the pipes and keeps everything smelling fresh.0 -
Big handful of soda crystals and boiling water sometimes help if its just soapy gunk but it sounds like hair so definitely a bendy coat hanger or some strong fuse wire might get down there and shift it .I too have a drainy thing cover that I got from bettaware years ago and even brought it from my old house when we moved in here 15 years ago.Cheapo plunger from the pound shop might help move it or even just a thick wodge of material to cause a vacuum and splodge it up and down over the drain.0

yeah, I don't have a plunger, but could borrow one
I'll be trying all these suggestions tonight, and I'll let you know how I get on.carpe diem :cool:

I use a product called one shot bought from the local DIY store (not big shed) Think its caustic soda based. Anyway DD used a whole loo roll last week in one sitting and blocked the loo big time. Forgot I had the stuff and found it while looking for the plunger. Removed as much water from the loo a possible, poured 250ml in loo 5 mins later flushed loo and it was unblocked. I have just used it in the shower today as it was smelling really awful for weeks and gurgling 5 mins later job done! DD has very long hair which is propably why its blocked. Its really good stuff says it desolves rags paper towels etc.0

:rotfl::rotfl: I find this too!!!
My bath tends to drain slowly and it's because the water has to go down the plug hole and then along to the wastepipe and as such gravity isn't much of a help.
What I've found helps to clear blockages when hair removal has been completed is to have a bath. I find the weight of the water that I then let out of the bath helps to shift any blockage along to the downpipe, just having showers there isn't enough weight to the water to help keep the pipe clear.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
