    Hi guys,

I might be showing my ignorance here.

The sheer number of competitions on any given day really boggles the mind. Sure, companies want to market their products and generate excitement etc. but I wonder do ALL competitions have winners?

Of course, the big one's (Hoxton Hotels, Daily Mail, BBC) surely do, but what about the 'smaller one's' ?

    For e.g.:

    http://groups.google.co.uk/group/uk.rec.competitions/topics?start=20&sa=N

http://www.shortlist.com/competitions (they require you to write in to ask who won. Is anyone going to ever do that?)

OR are these just great ways for companies to collect our data?
Is there a part on our forums where members actually declare they won something? Thanks

    Curiously yours,

    Sonny

To someone not into comping it must seem like there must be a catch & the prizes may not be there.Just have a look in the "I won section" & you'll see loads of winners.A lot of people show their prizes in the signature as well.Of course some want your data & you may get some spam but it's not a big issue for most.

Too many of you have jumped on the competitions bandwagon, you all want something for nothing.

Keep your grubby benefit grasping hands off the prizes which are meant for true competitors.

Those who have jumped on the comping bandwagon have spoilt it for all genuine compers out their.

You may be happy with a few mugs and crusty old packets of chips but leave the real competitions to the true experts.

My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

Look at it another way, the greedy ones are the ones that kept comps to themselves for so long!! at least on here people share and help one another out - which community would you sooner belong to? A bit like whats been going on in the world - a few have been in the know, keeping quite whilst quietly ripping the rest of us off - hopefully not any longer
  • Just found this comp but don't know if it's genuine - can anyone help?

I have a question and am not sure where to post it - so i figured here would be a start. If I need to be somewhere else can someone steer me please?

When I am on a thread and it has expired - which often happens because I'm still on things posted on 10th June and just CAN'T catch up it seems! Anyway, if I hit expired I appear to then be moved 'with' the thread into the expired section (I learnt this after about half an hour of diligently entering expired competitions one day).......

So, I have tried a 'new' method. When I come across a competition which has reached it's end date I hit the 'expired' button and backspace three or four, so I am on something I've already entered, then come forwards from there.

And it always seems that the competition I was on which has expired ISN'T flagged up, but the one afterwards is.

What on earth am I doing wrong?

It strikes me that it should be as simple as the page you are on (the thread, or single competition) is out of date, you click the expired button - that one should be flagged as expired (and either moved or not moved) and the next one along should still be current.

I'm obviously doing something wrong - I'm also reaching a point where I'm going to stop trying - and as I appear to always be last along the board I do a valuable 'cleaning up' job I think - if only I could work out how to do it.

    HELP!
