Every little does count damn it! I'm going to kill off that Capital One card before I get charged interest on it. Or else....

Chuckles - the 0% deal on the Capital One card was one of the "legendary" no fee 18 months 0% deals so, having kept the balance at nearly £4000 for most of that 18 months I must have lost Capital One a small forture in 15.9% interest.

  • Managed to list another item on ebay last night, making 25 items listed, but haven't really got much else ready to list. I have emptied out a plastic crate to be used as an "ebay crate" into which everything I plan to sell on ebay will go for next time there is a 5p listing day. :money:

Managed to post all my sold ebay items yesterday so hoping for good feedback for being so quick. :A

Got £30 back from a casino site I registered with, which I signed up to using Quidco, so decided to send that to my Capital One card along with some of the balance of my HSBC account, as there is only one payment due to go out before I next get money in and there is enough left to cover it, so paid £61.56 to take me down to the seventeen and a half grand level!!! :j

  • Morning all,

Time for an update on my spending, which has been very high this week due to exciting things happening.

Business trip ran up expenses of £39.28 but will get them back so these aren't counted below. Also had one no spend day this week!

Made two lunches this week, so three below. Resolve to make more for the coming week. Also had to post two items sold on ebay (for £147.93), which I have listed below. Fancied some smarties when I filled up the car at the petrol station, so it's also listed (honest or what!?!).

The big "boo boo" this week are my two trips out, on tuesday and saturday, racking up a total of £87.60   but the saturday one was a special treat so I'm not feeling too guilty at the moment.

    Spending Diary

    Lunches at work: £5.90
    Going out (tue): £23.00
    Postage (for ebay stuff): £6.54
    Going out (sat): £64.60
    Petrol: £43.03
Snack: £0.38 (Smarties have the answer!!!)

    Total: £143.85

  • I just discovered the Green Metropolis website, where you can buy and sell books cheaply. I've got a stack of books I'd like to sell, so I might put them on the site...

Anyone else used them and have any comments? I did think that £3.00 per book doesn't sound too bad but didn't like the fact that this includes postage in most cases (which means you probably get £1 to £1.50 a book which isn't ideal).

    Maybe ebay is better?

  • I was reading the Motley Fool today and one of the articles was about credit cards so I was thinking how to use a new credit card to my advantage...

I noticed that Marks & Spencers offer a 3.9% life of balance transfer rate with no fees on their credit card. This is cheaper than both my American Express (4.9%) and my Egg Loan (7.9%). It also offers 12 months 0% on purchases, which could be useful from a stoozing point of view.

I may apply for one once I have cleared my Capital One card and closed it, so that I don't have too many cards open at one time. Then I can balance transfer my Amex balance but I might be able to balance transfer to my Morgan Stanley card then get a cheque sent to me to clear some of my Egg loan...?

    Hmmm...

  • Hi all,

I updated my snowball calculations at the "Whats The Cost" website:

    Date................Total Debt
    October 2006....£16,100.00
    November 2006..£14,774.17
    December 2006..£13,455.74
    January 2007.....£12,125.91
    February 2007....£10,787.68
    March 2007.......£9,435.83
    April 2007.........£8,080.58
    May 2007.........£6,715.55
    June 2007.........£5,343.00
    July 2007..........£3,963.28
    August 2007......£2,578.51
    September 2007.£1,188.02
    October 2007.....£0.00

So, assuming I can keep up with paying £1400.00 a month (yikes) then I will be debt free in October next year - that's just over a year away!!!
