  • Reached the end of my first spending diary (and my first month of REALLY monitoring my spending). :j

    This week I spent £111.10, mostly it seems on two "want" items - a second hand minidisc stereo for my car and a 40Gb online backup service for my PC.

    I also spent £345.77 on expenses, which I have claimed back already and should see in my bank account in a week or two.

    Spending Summary

    Petrol: £40.50
    Lunches at work: £3.60
    New Stereo for car: £20
    Online Backup Service (2yrs): £47

    Plan for next month

    As I overspent by £181.91, that means I only have £672.67-£181.91=£490.76 to spend this month. That's £122.69 a week as there are only 4 weeks this time round. I managed that 4 times out of 5 last month so here goes...:rotfl:

  • Made use of my bank holiday to list some stuff on ebay, including my new phone, which I don't really need as my old one I used before I upgraded did everything I wanted it to do.

    Hopefully lots of lovely ebay people will bid on my stuff! I've had a few questions already so that's a good sign.

  • I'm actually looking forward :rolleyes2 to receiving my Capital One statement to check how much I have to pay off.

    I've got £626.60 in my bank account at the moment, earmarked for Cap1
    I am expecting £32.00 from Quidco and at least £654.14 in rental income, also earmarked for Cap1.

    That leaves £1,708.82 to pay off.

    Now, I have a £500 interest free overdraft on my HSBC account so I could use that if I am getting close to the interest charging period on Capital One.

    That leaves £1,208.82 to pay off before October!!!

    :think: I'll have to get thinking...

  • Nobody has bid on any of my already listed stuff yet :(

    I was having a clear out last night and have a few more things to sell - some DVDs and a Gameboy Advance (plus some games). Should try to list these over the weekend.

  • Thanks Verbatim - always glad that someone reads my thread - I've not had many comments since my telling off for going out three times in a week and blowing £80 so I must be doing OK :p

    Spending Diary

    An extremely good week for no-spend days (four) this week, including a no-spend weekend. Wow. Total spend was £106.74, mainly caused by filling up the car and a trip to....IKEA!!!

    NB Ikea charge 5p :eek: per carrier bag, should anyone plan to shop there any time soon, and also for using a credit card. So I used my Tesco carrier bag stash (at Tesco you earn 1 clubcard point (= 1p) for every carrier bag that you re-use instead of taking a new one) instead and saved about 50p!!! Oh, and used a debit card of course.

    My girlfriend has said she will split the cost of the IKEA trip as it was for "house stuff" but she bought some more stuff from B&Q on Saturday (£18ish) and I owe her £15 (apparently!) anyway.

    On to the details...

    Spending Breakdown

    Lunches & Snacks at work = £2.50
    Petrol = £40.99
    Ikea trip = £63.25

    Total = £106.74
