There is no way i would ever go back to a travel inn after our recent experience while on our honeymoon! we stopped at one overnight en route to devon so the kids would get a break.
When we arrived the receptionist was not there just a sign she was helping guests, saw her in the bar chatting to some men!
When she came she said we had not booked a cot when we had, said she would have to go find one.
This was a hot day when we arrived and she was complaining to us how hot and busy she was!
Got to room, we had booked a family room after going up lots of stairs and then down some to reach our room, got in and there were no beds for our older boys!
She complained it was housekeeping at fault as they had been put up next door! arrived with cot, it was filthy, got another one and she moaned at having to put it up!!
Seat in the room was filthy, bathroom door didn't lock, bath rail was loose and bath did not look very clean!
We were also right above the bar and all the noise went on til about 10pm.
Worst thing was the window latch was broke and she told we could open it but at the risk of our children, it only opened fully.
So it stayed shut, it was now really hot, kids were getting bored so went down to the brewers fayre and was disgusted at the highchairs, they were filthy and no attempt had been made to clean them!!
Back to room and settled kids to sleep, lo screamed all evening due to the heat, my eldest has diabetes and has hypos as he doesn't cope with the heat.
I wasn't really aware at the time of the refund policy, in the morning i was glad to be out of the place, so just left the keys.
Have complained to head office and am getting a refund which i am still waiting for!!

I stay at Travelodges/Premiertravelinns on a very regular basis, they are generally excellent value.
Last night, I stayed in Nottingham and the TV remote had been taken, I was finally given one at 915 p.m, was I going to claim my money back?
I am self-employed, and theses lodges give small businesses the chance to do their work without incurring huge expense.
I find it pathetic that someone sees these companies as easy targets, they will spoil a very good thing for everyone.Filiss0 -
I can't agree with all these responses saying it's somehow immoral to look for faults in order to get a refund.
Premier Travel Inn have thrown the gauntlet down to their customers. They've set a challenge, presumably because they are so confident about the standard of their product. They are actively inviting their customers to look for faults. It's one of their unique selling points as a hotel chain.
And if they are at fault, they're perfectly happy to give a refund. So what's the problem? It's a potential freebie, and that's what this forum is all about. They're a business not a charity, and there's no danger of them "losing money unfairly" - if they thought this policy was hurting them, they'd end it.
Gumpo never suggested fabricating or inventing problems to get a refund. That would be dishonest and a different matter altogether. This thread was simply to inform people that PTI are perfectly happy to give a refund if you spot any faults! And hopefully there won't be any.0 -
A few people missing the point here. I have stayed in PTI's many times without asking for a refund. The time I went to reception and asked for coffee for my room THE RECEPTIONIST (Take note MISSB) told me I should invoke the 100% satisfaction offer so I did.
The alarm clock was integrated in the TV and as they hadn't one at the desk I had to drive to a Tesco at night to by one. Far from 100% satisfied.
This thread was, in part, a compliment to Travel Inn for living up to their advert and not hiding behind small print.TRAVELMAN wrote:I agree! 'Blagging' the system to get 'something for nowt' is NOT moneysaving...
The implication if the thread is to use this info to your own advantage (!). Reminds me of a thread about taking food from Hotel Restaurants when abroad, secretly putting stuff in your bag (even though the signs in the restaurant & local laws forbid this)....the answers were so rabid it was untrue! 'I've paid for it' 'so I can do what I want', etc......not moral at all & illegal.
Any chance of telling me how you compare taking the advice of an sign in an hotel reception with IGNORING a sign in a restaurant while breaking the law? The conection escapes me.FREE THE WM30 -
I have just read these threads and I can add to them by saying that we recently stayed at a Premier Travel Inn on 2 separate nights - the first night was because we had an early flight out to go on holiday and the second was prebooked because our return flight was scheduled to arrive at 1am and we did not fancy the drive back up to High Wycombe at that time in the morning having been up and travelling for almost 17 hours.
The first night was fine - we were at the back of the hotel and got a great night's sleep (there was a late disco in the pub opposite and it didn't bother us one iota) but the second night was horrible. Our flight was delayed and we didn't get back to the hotel until 3am (after being charged £17 by the airport taxi firm for about a 3 mile journey - rip off or what!). We were allocated a room almost directly over the reception area. The hotel has very, very bright lights all around the entrance, drive and the pub opposite. These are on all night. The curtains in the rooms hang just around the window recess and are on a pole fitting which is about 2/3 inches away from the wall. This allows light to stream in to the room around the curtains (they are not blackouts). There was no way I could sleep until I tied a bandage around my eyes - (I have a dodgy foot that needs support particularly when on a flight) - luckily it was clean!
Check out was at 12pm - and we woke at 11.35! At 11.50am the power went off - so no coffee,I couldn't use of the hairdryer when I got out of the shower and absolutely no chance of 'breakfast'.
When we were in Reception the Receptionist said to me 'You look tired'. I told her why. Her response? 'Oh'. No offer of a refund forthcoming there then.
When I got back I contacted Premier Travel Inns and they were most apologetic and thanked me for my comments regarding the ill-fitting curtains and said they would look into the problem. (!)
Anyway the upshot was that they reimbursed us the cost of the room and have offered us a 20% discount on our next booking.
It IS their policy that should ANYTHING be wrong with the room or anything (other than a fire alram) interrupts your sleep - they will refund the cost. They have worked hard to get the soundproofing of these rooms improved a helluva lot so as to enable customers 'a restful and refreshing experience during their stay'.
A truly great service from Premier Travel Inns.
I just hope they get the curtains sorted out - it will save them money in the long run if they do - and this is the MONEYSAVINGEXPERT.
Wonder if they read this??What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Who made TRAVELMAN and other's keeper of this boards morals?
What the OP suggested isnt illegal. And in terms of taking advantage its no worse than the tesco misprice thread, or half the 'loophole' posts on the main page.
This isnt a small company we're talking about. If the system gets abused they have the choice to end it (or consider implimenting more sensible terms),
BTW, thanks to the OP. Personally I will be making the most of this opportunity.0 -
recently stayed at a premier travel inn at kings lynn - the temperature of the room was over 100 degrees which I recorded with my camera phone - I went to reception and asked if they had a fan because my 2 toddlers couldn't sleep because of the heat and the aircon wasn't working. Her response was that because we only paid 57 per night (stayed nights) then we shouldn't expect to have aircon (I neary had a heart attack at that comment) asked about the refund policy and she said my complaint doesn't warrant a refund because the room was "cheap enough". I checked out and left but on my return home I emailed customer services twice, no reply so rang twice and they promised to ring back,...they didn't so I put the complaint and photo of the temp guage, and they wrote back and said..."thanks for your comments" . I'm gutted and really cross. I stay in hotels/travel lodge type places alot, but I won't be going back to Premier Travel Inn.0

Dbuk 32...'you'll be making the most of this opportunity'(?!!) So what happens god forbid if the room is ok? How can you 'make the most of this opportunity'?!! I HATE all the clever 'hah hah-thgere's a loophole let's abuse it & get something for nowt'...now that is anal! There's lots of good advice on here....but how can you 'make the most of this opportunity' if say only one room in 20 is not correct. 'Make' a fault??! Sorry-downright dishonest.0

TRAVELMAN
Thank goodness for folks for you.
It distresses me that there are so many dishonest people about.
There was a different thread a few weeks ago about how to steal food in airport lounges. I couldn't come back to MSE for a while as I agree with you
this site is about saving---not stealing!
I wonder what Martin and the moderators [board guides] feel about this. I'm sure that THEY don't encourage dishonesty in the name of money saving.0
