Maybe the hitch hikers just got more careful round that neck of the woods ?

My awkward 3some loved this stuff then suddenly went right off it ...so it doesn't really bother me much personally that they closed ...but I have another way to get some raw (and cooked) meats cheaply now from time to time that others may be able to try?

I hit the local butchers and market stalls that sell meat and fish for scraps ...they throw loads of it away that is fine for tiggers, especially the chicken and fish guys. I even get trimmed offcuts of chicken and deli meats that are useless for sale in bags although this is a little dear at about a quid for 300 gms , but the cats love it as a treat and it's healthy pure meat with no added muck.

If you're really lucky you could even find a poultry famr or processor close by that will sell you scraps that would be wasted ...we had one a few years ago and they were brilliant for livers and alsorts and fed 3 german shepherds easily for reasonable money.

My cats won't touch food with veg in it...and when they did for a while they weren't great to live with as they puked and did other unpleasant things all the time which made me realise it wasn't good for them at all.

One of my cats has a mad love of mature cheddar cheese and eats toast if it's buttered and he can nick it ...who knows what goes on in those tiny heads eh ? lol

Unless they were doing something illegal!

I guess I just have a little more faith :p
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Maybe the credit crunch affected them - lots of companies going bust these days....
  • I have had no alternative but to claim back the money from my visa card, all emails via various avenues all have gone unanswered.

I hope all goes well for anyone else in the same position as me.

Good luck and best wishes. Thanks for all your replies.

Do Jollyes have their own brand raw, or is it one of the other suppliers? Might be worth a trip to Halifax ...

I was thinking of going to my credit card company for a refund but as mine is under £100 - I didn't think I could?

I emailed Darlings yesterday to place an order - no reply. Also called their number and it answered and then cut off?

Completely run out of ready made now....will make a trip to the butchers tonight!

They don't do raw (jollyes that is) they do own label in dry both cat and dog. Anglian is the product supplier for the raw mince.

I've decided to go with Darlings and will see how the cats and pup go on that. looking forward to receiving the starter pack. They also do raw food for cats now but haven't yet put it up on the website.

Copied from someone on Purrs re: Darlings ...
"They are in the process of providing cat food too, but already had some recipes made up suitable for cats - so I had a taster pack ... Anyway, my lot loved the 3 varieties - beef, chicken and lamb (especially the lamb smile.gif ) - they seemed to like it even more than the Food4 varieties. Only downside from my point of view anyway - is the minimum order of 20kg catshocked.gif - ... but I must say, it does seem to be very high quality meat, sourced locally etc."
