Food4cats raw pet mince - alternative supplier?

Well as food4cats is closing....See copied section from email received yesterday.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that I have decided to close Back to Nature
due to personal circumstances.
It's been a hard decision but unfortunatly I feel that it is the best
option.

I'd like to thank all our customers for their business over the past 18
months. Any outstanding orders will be shipped by Monday (we are just
waiting for a shipment of Wild Rabbit to arrive on Sunday).

I'm now wondering what alternatives I have. I know there aren't many raw food suppliers, so wondered if anyone can recommend a company that they (and their cats') are happy with? It also needs to be available in my area (North West).

Ones I have tried in the past were Prize Choice and DAF, but neither of those were appreciated by the cats'

I am considering trying Landywoods, but have read mixed views, so if anyone here feeds Landywoods to their cats, I'd appreciate some feedback on quality, freshness, and acceptance :)

    Thanks for the replies :)

Fire Fox - I had that email too, but it looks as though there's only Landywoods that I could get in my area. The other either don't deliver to my area, or ones that I've tried already.

Shoshanna - unfortunately, your vets are too far for me to get to. I had a quick look at the info on the site though, and think it sounds like a welcoming place. Definitely the sort of practice that I would feel most at home with, seeing as they support/promote raw feeding, and in that, go against the 'norm'
I like the fact that they say they're happy to show clients their facilities and will book a double appointment for first time pets' in order to get to know the animal better. And I spotted a mention of 'ferrets' when talking about feeding carnivors. Ferrets are often forgotten carnivors {obligate carnivors in fact) when it comes to writings on raw/whole prey diets....I'm very impressed with what I've read so far :)

OK, enough rambling. I'd still like to hear from anyone that has experience of feeding cats' the Landywoods minces. I'm fine for a couple of months, as I paced an order with Food4cats recently, so there's no rush for a supplier. So, if anyone else is going to try Landywoods for the first time, please let me know how you get on.

this one quotes Pets at Home as one of it's stockists - does anyone know if they sell raw or not please?

Note: it's not really feasible for me to have frozen meat delivered but popping along to Pets @ Home & stocking up would be great :0)

    check this out :0)

Yes they do, so it's handy if you have one close by. As Kimberly says, check out any local pet shops for Prize Choice as well. My little one around the corner stocks their minces, and has in the past got me anything from Prize choice (in my case I ordered poultry necks and hearts) that he doesn't usually stock. He just makes a note of what I want and adds it to his usual order.

Pets at home have freezers in the Dog food section with various brands of fresh meat in it.

Have you got a local butcher you can go to instead?

  • I don't know what brands they sell but Jollyes have a large freezer section with frozen food in.
