For those who like tittle-tattle:
Those I have heard of being likeable as people:
Alistair Darling
Michael Portillo
Gordon Brown
And those who I have heard bad things about:
David Blunkett
Brian Mawhinney
Gordon Brown
Is Gordon Brown a bully, very driven or just difficult to work with? To be honest I do not know.
sounds like gordon is a bit like marmite. i happen to be a big fan of marmite. i've always thought gordon brown seems quite genuine and likeable (if totally committed to work). it's quite hard to tell totally from afar. i quite like vince cable too and nick clegg seems okay. as for cameron and osborne. they make my skin crawl. even if they weren't talking politics i'd have an allergic reaction. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

Tories: 37%
Labour: 32%
Lib Dems: 19%
Less than a 9% lead = hung parliament territory.......
Rubbish.
Once again you are making the mistake of following UNS.
You are ignoring the following :-
http://www2.politicalbetting.com/index.php/archives/2010/02/25/launching-the-andy-cooke-seats-calculator-final-version/
The effect of the Ashcroft money in the marginals. The swing is consistently higher in the marginals. The Angus Reid numbers are in line with the raw data from the likes of Yougov.
http://www2.politicalbetting.com/index.php/archives/2010/02/24/pbar-poll-has-the-swing-45-pc-bigger-in-the-marginals/
The effect of the Tories having far more councillors on the ground than Labour.
The raw data prior to "weighting" not moving over the last 12 months.

Yougov, which you trot out sheeplike, has shown a huge tightening over the last 12 months. YET THE BASIC NUMBERS HAVE NOT CHANGED. So either the numbers were wrong to start with or are now. The poll last week that showed a 6% Tory lead had raw data of 44% Tory 27% Labour. It was only when weightings were added that it became 38-32. This poll you drag up now is based on people who say they are 100% certain to vote. It is inconsistent with their other polls. Try thinking about things for once. This has all been pointed out to you before. Of course your response was your usual ill-considered ignorance.
I doubt Heseltine was worried, he was simply playing to the audience."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."

You would be better off ignoring this troll and reading the thoughts of posters on ukpollingreport.co.uk and politicalbetting.com.
They know what they are looking at with polls. You can explain stuff to Hamish but it just does not sink in unless it fits with his rather odd view of the world and if you question it then he tends to ignore the stuff he finds too difficult to answer."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Politics is not for the thin-skinned. If you are too honest and too nice you get trampled on or fooled. I wonder if that might be Obama's problem.
Of course you do not want psychos running the country, but on the other hand wet blankets are no use either.
If you become a rugby player, you should know that you are going to get injured some time. If you become an MP, you know that people will say nasty things about you. If you work in a minister's private office, you should know that your quality of life will depend on what that minister is like as a person. The advantage of being a civil servant (particularly those in private offices who tend to be ambitious sorts) is that you can change post fairly easily if you do not like your job.Politics is not the art of the possible. People know that people make mistakes and if Darling made a mistake over the worst recession in 60 years, then Brown should have had a meeting with him and worked out an action plan to handle it. Brown did not he let his attack dogs smear Darling as reported by numerous journalists as being present at the smearing and mention by name the person that did it. Darlings "Unleash the forces of Hell" comment is believed by the population, Browns denials are not.
but darling made it clear he was referring to the tories as much as mcbride in his "forces of hell" comment. it's been taken out of context (again).

Speaking to Sky News, he said: "I'd done this interview and the forces of hell were unleashed."
Asked whether Number 10 was responsible, he added: "Not just them, the Tories as well."Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
One thing I will say is that it is a bit rich the newspapers calling Gordon Brown a bully after some of the treatment they have given him.
Surely the headline should read "One-eyed Jock autistic weirdo accused of bullying".

Watch the interview, he paused and then said "Oh yes and the Tories as well." He knew exactly what he was saying and why he was saying it and it had nothing to do with bashing the Torys. He was sending a message to Mr G Brown, loud and clear.0 -

I suggest you read the transcript of the interview with Randall before you decide what is and is not taken out of context."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

That is the frontpage headline of the Sun on Polling Day.0 -

Brown is as passionate as being a Prime Minister as a football hooligan is as being a football fan. No excuse and not a virtue. Brown is a liability. How they can excuse this mindless bully is beyond me. I have always voted Labour at General Elections. I will not vote for Labour led by Brown.
Alistair Darling is not only a decent bloke, and far better chancellor than Boy Osborne would be IMHO, but someone who has obviously realised the problems we face and is not moved by party politics but the need to start putting things right. He has said he does not want to be another Stafford Cripps or Snowden.
Yes, it was clearly a message to Brown. The mention of the Tories was an aside and clearly designed as such. Smart guy Darling."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
