don't know if it's been mentioned, but Asda's own brand crisps are made by Taito (irish crisp manufacturer)

ah yes, that's my computer game-addled brain going automatically to the taito name rather than tayto (despite the picture above)

In Aldi the other day, saw some jams which had jars awfully similar to the bonne maman brand. I'm thinking they could be one and the same? Not sure though.

EDIT: jam not bonne maman in the end, sorry!

I haven't seen the ones in the Bonne Maman style jars but in Aldi I found some really good fruit preserves for 89p a jar, personally I think they're even better than Bonne Maman so I'm making them a permanent switch, bargain! :T

I know that emachines laptops are EXACTLY the same as Acer. I have an emachines, I saw an acer in Tesco which was exactly the same as my laptop but it was way more expensive.

Load of rubbish Acers have totally different motherboards , the graphics and sound cards dont even come close to the gfx and dsp chips built into even the base Acer models.

Some of the "plastics" and case designs may be similar but thats where the similarity ends , besides Acer do many more "top ended" models than Emachines please dont state exactly unless you are a technician that has proof of this , as a PC/Laptop /mobile phone repair technician I can tell you that they dont and never have used exactly the same components , Acer do not allow that although many companies do produce OEM models they always differ from their own in some way .

If you still believe that your Laptop is the same as a more expensive Acer model then give me your model number and the Acer and I will tell you how it differs .
Whether that affects the way people buy a laptop or not is a different matter , for basic net activity etc a base EMachines is ok but dont expect it to compete with video or photo manipulation at high resolution with a dearer laptop from another manufacturer if that is your bag.

Many Emachine motherboards for instance wont even support some of Adobe photoshop CS5 / After Effects or Coral Draw 2011 STILL for instance due to a lack of CPU processing power if you need those for a student course or a new job then most of your current Emachines wont cut it and you are stuffed and stuck with old functions ALL the current Acers will run these comfortably .

Do not be convinced by anyone telling you otherwise ALWAYS go on the ACTUAL components used and not simply because they look similar theres a reason why Emachines are cheap they most certainly are not top of the line current model Acers and never have been .

Thats ok if you dont need the extra power if you do stay away from cheap Emachines laptops IF you need to use power hungry graphics applications such as CS5 or after effects Coral Draw it will take some of the stuff half a day to render they just are not in the same class as "expensive" models and never ever have been they are Economy Machines as per the name in both power and price and are not as good value as they first seem :rotfl:

For lovers of Tayto crisps who want to know they are buying the real thing, then keep your eyes peeled in Home Bargains! Occasionally they are sold off at ridiculously low prices. Last time I saw them a lady was almost clearing the shelves and literally filling her trolly with them. I happened to ask her if they were nice crisps as she was buying so many! In a thick Irish accent she told me they were the best crisps in the world!!

eMachine is simply one of Acer's brands, they are at the lower end of their product range. They may look the same at times but they are not the same inside. They used to be an independent company, then they were bought by Gateway and Gateway was bought by Acer.
