bluezone wrote:Would it be ok to join next month - as I seem to buyu junk or prepacked food and this would give me some disipline. How much would you suggest for 1 person ( it will just be me for a while ) per month?
Hi Bluezone
I'm on £70 as a starter for this. I think Lynz would say it can go lower though but it depends on how comfortable you are. What do you spend now?The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Hope all are doing well ?
I spent 72p today on some pretzel sticks.
Had freezer tea. We have stuff in, but need veg and some nice bits for a picnic on saturday, so weve decided to go for lidl as thier cold meats and bake at home rolls are the best, & thier shower gel is 21p. Hopefully their veg will be half price too, we havent eaten enough veg over the last few days.
Made my first loaf last night with gran flour & yeast, wasnt great, I think i didnt put enough yeast in. ONwards & upwards:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I want to join if that is ok. I will aim for £200 for this coming month (that is for a family of 5 including a baby and toddler in nappies). May seem a bit steep, but its my first attempt and I have been spending a lot more than that. If it goes well I will reduce it next month.Official DFW Nerd #148

Ooo count me in!! OK my budget for food is currently £195 a month, disgraceful I know but believe me thats a cut down! Will aim to get it lower, just don't know how some of you do out, what can I say we like out food, and my son has an addiction to fruit smoothies!
Know I'm late but have clocked what I've spent since 20th and that is £14.37 and £2.50 so a grand total of £16.87, have to say though will be going to tesco on fri!

Hey lil'H,
Welcome on board!lil'H wrote:my son has an addiction to fruit smoothies!
How about trying frozen fruit - this is often a lot cheaper? Or asking him to cut down slightly? I know these are great for him so you don't want him to stop but needs must!lil'H wrote:PS I'm expecting a lot of stick seeing as I have one of the highest budgets when you condider it's only two of us. I don't think you'll get any stick lil'H - your budget choice is up to you. As long as its a challenge for you - that's okay. Maybe try the £195 this month and bring it down £10/£15 or so a month from now on?
Mind you, you've done nearly a week on only £16.87 - that's much better than I could manage and my budget is only £120!
Good luck!
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500

For the last 3 months I have been eating aat my parents to save money so this monthly shop is going to be a test from tomorrow thats why I have put down £100 as I have got to buy everything from scratch i.e cleaning and washing stuff etc. Although my parents are putting a box of food together for me to start me off.
How many are you buying for?
I am hoping to reduce it from £100 to about £70😁0 -
I'm glad I'm not starting the challenge till tomorrow as I have bought cakes £10.37 for the peeps at work as its my birthday😁0

Hey scottish spendaholic,
Hadn't thought of frozen fruit, might have to try that. We actually buy the smoothie cartons at the moment, tried making our own but worked out no cheaper, especially as my son likes lots of small amounts through the day. Also gave my blender out and not sure who has it so need to track that down! Going to makro for the first time in the next couple of weeks, so hoping I may be able to find bulk buy smoothies there! Spent an extra £15.05 today on food, won't be buying again till fri so that makes me £31.92 for week one! Under budget so far, really pleased! :j
