Revenge of the tailgated!

On a personal level, if someone is tailgating me on a regular road, then I will allow them to pass if possible. Otherwise, I just carry on doing what I am doing. If they pull out to pass, and it becomes necessary, I will slow down rather than force them into cutting in, or forcing oncoming traffic to swerve. But I'll then post their details on betterdrivingplease.com. If I'm following someone, then I'll hang back until such time as I move forward to pass. HOWEVER, it's not the first time I've followed someone who finds it impossible to maintain a steady speed, with their accelerator either welded to the floor, or fully off. In those circumstances, it's very difficult to maintain a steady distance (since they refuse to use the brakes, unless it's the sort of person who slams on the anchors at every corner, or oncoming vehicle), and at those times it can end up looking like I'm tailgating even though I'm blatantly not.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

I apologise if you haven't made that up, I was and still am insensed that someone could behave in that way and could not believe such idiots exist.[/QUOTE]
No apology necessary. The guy was (and probably still is) a massive n0bhead and will probably end his days in a manged wreck clutching a malteser reeking of self-satisfaction!Skip dipper and proud....0 -
Surely tail gaiting is just a form of slipstreaming - money saving and all that!I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Sound post, but why the hell would you want to speed up to get out of their way, that is the intended result a tailgater wants, ie, to make you drive faster:mad::mad::mad:
How are they putting you at risk?
I tailgate but only when cars brake WAYYYYYY to early, corner and accelorate so slowly. Most of the people I tailgate are in huge engined sports type cars. I think they deserve it, having these huge engines which clearly they don't need.
I've pulled in letting faster cars past quite a few times.
On the other matter about "middle lane drivers" or "second lane drivers" You really shouldn't be on the road. Any lane apart from the first lane is an OVER-TAKING lane. If you aren't near to over-taking a car, get back in the first lane. No matter if you're doing the speed limit or not. We all pay our road tax and it is up to the speeder if he wants to risk it and go a bit faster. It's not upto you to hold him back.:A0 -
because most of the time you are sitting at the speed limit with someone else in front of you ,[overtaking lorries etc] and as undertaking is against the law you sit in right hand lane simples
Used to wait ages before undertaking (miles at a time) but now if theres space i'll just undertake and flash the fogs. Much simpler...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I'm a hater too
There's different situations I encounter however.
I'm happy for someone to tailgate me for maybe 30 secs or so because I can tell they want to overtake, if I see them doing this I try and keep as far to the left as possible to make it easier and get them out my way, or simply I wait for them to overtake
If it's some deliberate chump who is tailgaiting for no other reason except they like fast driving and don't care about anyone else and try to bully them into speeding up then I'll simply do a hard brake light check. If they continue to do it I will slow down to 0 and either get out and hit them. Or put my car in reverse and drive off with their radiator attached to my tow bar.
I also get annoyed with people who drive with main beams everywhere, and fog lights everywhere. I simply leave my main beams on until they turn them off, works everytime.
I get really bad tempered with my habits on driving, I like to relax.
I've had instances of people putting their foot down when I'm overtaking them on single lane road because they were going too slow. I slow down and pull back in, they then drive really slow again, I went to overtake they speed up. In the end they wouldn't stop it so I just swerved my car at them, they soon learned
If all else fails I'll just report them for dangerous driving, I like to think I'm considerate to other road users but it really narks me when jerks do nothing but act like tits.Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

How else do you get people out of the way who don't understand lane discipline. Perhaps you should drive round Northampton's ring road and see how puople need to get in the right hand lane about a mile before the roundabout to turn right. Then I get flashed when I undertake them (in my highly engineered sports car ref earlier poster's comment).0

You aren't being serious are you:eek:. From your own admission you tailgate cars that brake early for corners. What exactly is going to happen if you clip the car on the rear corner? I'll tell you. You are going to put that car into a spin and knock it of the road. Thats how you are putting them at risk:mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
