  • I do remember Mr Benn. I was more of a Noggin The Nog fan. Almost surreal!

I love Noggin the Nog! (and Nogbad the Bad) - it is an Oliver Postgate spectacular and I find his voice extremely comforting :)

  • Postgate was a hero, he did so many iconic TV programmes. So many memories of getting in from the paper round in the morning during school holidays, making tea and toast and settling down to watch the programme before my friends come around to play football in the park or disappearing over the woods all day.

That Mr Postgate produced Bagpuss, The Clangers and Ivor the Engine. OMG do you think God gives him extra wings and halos as he made us all so happy? We are still kids like we were in the olden days and now we have more knowledge it should be easier shouldn't it?

  • I was never easy as a kid. But we didnt know how hard it was, or how hard it would be. But I do believe we were the lucky generation. I grew up in a time where everyone looked after each other. I rememer walking home from school on my own when I was 7, in mid winter, dark and through the council estate. I felt safe, and secure. We could play out all day, with no worries about knife violence, guns or crap like that. In fact, I used to have an old army knife, and yes it did have a tool for getting stones out of horses hooves. I always carried it with me.

I was safe as long as i left my house, hospital and school were safe. Actually, now i think about it I think I prefer being a grown up, now we can control our own destiny. The only monster's are in our imagination - who said that Firewalker? She was correct.

Did you read about her son's birthday today? She is a wonderful writer and has a heart of gold. We are blessed William. When i read her diary i know it is going to be ok. Must go to sleep good night and sleep well.

  • Morning all, today is reality check. I know I am still not out of the woods, and that I expect some censure for my actions at work, and that I still dont know what form this will take.

Today I must do things around the house and keep busy. So, I have a door and frame to build for the alcove under the stairs. I have to visit town to drop off sales to my brother for delivery, have a swim and do some things in the garden.

I have a couselling session booked for wednesday with the company occupational health people.

I am trying to be positive.

When you go back to work do your job and do not think, analyse and second guess what the idiots are saying or doing. You will have to switch off for a while and just be on automatic pilot as the hurt/unfairness of it all will be quite strong at times. My friend George said to me dont beat yourself up for not understanding them, you dont want to think like them you are not like them and be grateful for small mercies. Focus on swimming, football etc to let your frustrations out and everyday as you walk into work count your blessings you have a wonderful home, marriage and children and you are WilliamD1964 and everyone on MSE loves you.

It will get better with time- been there, got the t shirt etc - I promise. Keep the faith ok.
