  • Good morning all. Bit tired today, but hey ho, things to do! On todays agenda is calling the competition people and arrange the dates (hopefully our wedding anniversary). Also want to see if I can arrange to renew our wedding vows on the ponte vecchio bridge. The old romantic in me is coming out! Been studying my figures again and with be asking for advice later as to the best way to out of this mess. Still, I have £3.10 in my pocket, food in the cupboard, enough money to meet all my commitments this month and a job of work. better than some I suppose. Also gotta push the avon at work this week to keep the wife on side.
Thanks for all the support. Would love to learn more about the daily clicks thing as that does sound interesting.

    Hi William,

and what a read. Decided to write because: 1) I am a latent gambler myself; 2) was on the other side of debt - was not told for a long time. About the gambling, I am impressed - you have been clean for so long and also you had the good sense to refuse to do it when tempted with profit. This is the way - I am latent only because I hardly ever start. It might be easier to control by using something like Neuro Linguistic Programming. Worth a look anyway.

About telling your wife. I can understand your apprehension. But, I can also tell you from experience, that it hurts much more when you learn. You are worried she will walk. When she learns - it is difficult to keep this sort of thing secret for long - she will feel betrayed. And that is when a woman's fury really begins. Don't you think she might wish to support you in all that? Well, it is your choice.

    Good luck and keep writing.

Just wanted to echo FW really. As the one lied to I can't tell you how much it hurt and how much damage the lying did to our relationship (we aren't together now but the writing was on the wall for that relationship for a long time with or without the £80k worth of debt:o). BUT had he started a journal like this and had he been able to tell me where the money had gone I think it would have felt different. You're the best person to judge what your wife's response might be but as hard as it is I'd try to be honest. It will probably explain a lot to her and you can work together for your future. You're doing really well by the way (pleased you dismissed the matched betting!).

I honestly do believe that I can turn this around in two, maybe three years, while maintaing a reasonable quality of life for all (except me)As for telling my wife, well, I know that she will walk, and that I will lose her, my kids, the house, and everything I have built. I can do this, I WILL do this. I will do all that is neccessary to make it happen. And yes, I realise that if she were to find out I will lose it anyway. Not so much a lie, but shielding her from the truth (and yes I know that is a feeble excuse, but it all I have and I will cling to it like a man hanging from the edge of a cliff).

Well done on being so positive, Only you will know how your wife will take it and maybe in time you could let her know but continue as you are going and you will get there.
 Keep up the good work and do you still have your £3.10 :)

  • LOLOLOLOL, suprisingly enough I do. Haven't bought a paper, had no need to buy any munchies as I took a packed lunch to work (like being at school again!) and been so blooming busy at work so no stopping to snack. The longer I hold onto it the more I want to!
May get bushwacked by the kids wanting sweets over the next few days but rather spend it on them than on me.
Many thanks for the link novagirl, I will definately look at that after I do my comps in the morning. Thats between getting breakfast for the kids and getting ready for work! I got an email from the competition people, they are looking into the renewing the vows idea, and may want to incorporate into the publicity. I am looking at all ways of increasing my income. Oh, and no more chocolate for a month. Promised my son (still wondering why I made THAT promise).

LOL, good luck on your chocolate challenge!
  • Today I have not gambled. I Still have £3.10 in my pocket, and I haven't eaten chocolate!
Been a rough day at work, had two or three Arsenal supporters crying in their tea, and as I left had the Manchester Utd supporters joining them. Poor souls...Anyway, is late, day off tomorrow so day with the kids, swimming later for me, and give wife a break so off to bed. Thanks to all.
