hiya birdie, i'm completely in love with your wedding! everytime i come on here you have added something to make me love it even more! the little bags for guests is so clever!

not wanting to hog your thread, but i'm curious about the registry thing. Me and OH aren't engaged or anything, but i'm odd, and just want to go away and get married me and him(he's fine with this-too many family problems to risk having a nice day ruined by other people etc) and then come back and do something low key with family etc. We were thinking italy-but the thought of getting married legally with the language barrier etc scared the crap out of me a bit! So how does it work the way you're doing it? if you're getting married here legally-what happens at your wedding?what do you need to do at the registry office etc- I'd never thought of it before, but its genius-just sounds a lot less stressful imo

Thanks! I'm starting to stall a little now ideas wise, but I'm trying to keep everyone interested! :o

What we've done is booked a Renewal of Vows package, which is essentially the same as a wedding but instead of getting a real wedding certificate at the end we get a 'pretend' one! The service is held in Spanish with a translator and works as a blessing, we're going to ask that it is worded as closely to the real wedding ceremony as possible. This way all we need is our passports and our wedding certificate rather than going to all of the hassle of translating our important documents and getting them sent over to the consulate before we go, I wouldn't sleep until we got there if we did that!

To get married in the registry office we need our passports and driving licenses (or other forms of ID), proof of address, so a utility bill each and that's it! We have to go to the registry office to give notice 15 days before we get married but we're going to go and give notice when we book it as the notice thingy lasts 12 months. Easy peasy!

I'm getting very excited about going shoe shopping in April! It looks like we'll be wandering up and down Sloane Street as there are lots of lovely shops there, Prada, Dior, Chloe, Gina, Jimmy Choo! Christian Louboutin is near by and Manolo Blahnik is in Chelsea! :T I dropped big hints that I need something pretty and posh to wear for shopping so I don't have a Pretty Woman moment with snobby shop assistants but I don't think either Mum or OH got it! :p

I consider good shoes an excellent investment. I've bought shoes from places like New Look before and they're uncomfy and look cheap, I wear them maybe twice, so even at £20 a pop that's £10 a wear. However most of my favourite shoes are from Nine West or Kurt Geiger, at £80-£220 a pop, and they last forever and I wear them all the time, cost per wear about £2 each. Ergo, spending on shoes is good financial sense :D And in this instance mum is buying them anyway - haven't bought myself new shoes in about 2 years, although mum replaced my 1999 Nine West black ankle boots with 2009 Black ankle boots at Christmas (£120, and a bargain at that!)

Oh ok :rotfl:I couldnt do it (not only because i could never afford it lol) i just couldnt bring myself to pay that for shoes, you lucky girls, i dont have any posh shoes :o
Would you wear your wedding shoes more than once? I dont know how it works and what the rules are lol.

I'm still interested Birdie, i just dont think i can contribute much, dont know much about weddings. But still like reading all the plans :D

I'd wear them more than once if they were comfy and attractive, you go to so many wedding shops and they're really dated satiny things with granny heels - and still £80 - and I definately wouldn't wear them again.

ooo that does sound easy peasy-right up my street! shoe shopping sounds amaaazing, but i'm like lulu-couldn't spend that much on shoes-my OH bought me a pair of irregular choice shoes for my 21st bday that were 65 pound and that was really dear to me!:o

My wedding shoes are going to be something classic, so not high fashion but 'different' enough to warrant the price tag, I'll be choosing a colour that I'd wear again and again. I'm hoping that if my Mum is spending a lot of money they'll be well made and comfortable so I can get a lot of wear out of them!

The reason I chose my headdress is that it's something I can wear again as it's a really pretty, well made headband rather than a tiara I'd never use again. It makes sense to spend more on things that'll last longer than the one day.

I find topshop heels really comfortable and I'm a bit of an ugg addict.... Don't know if I could ever justify £300 on heels!! Maybe when I'm making millions!! Would love to though!
Loving the wedding ideas birdie! have you seen those dashboard things for cars where they are hula girls with the skirts/legs/hips on a spring thing so they move? they could be corney and in theme! (I really hope someone knows what I'm talking about!)

LOL Tink, I know what you mean! I want to try to stay away from too much Hawaiian Luau stuff though as it’s not the right theme. Pedantic I know! I’m happy for Hawaiian print shirts, leis and coconuts as we saw plenty of those when we were there but we didn’t see anyone dancing around in grass skirts!

Oh what a shame I think they'd make brill table features! Or - :D - if you can get a boy one they could go on the cake!! Why can't you get married in Hawaii instead?

Eternal Sunshine, Irregular Choice and Office are about the poshest my shoes get too! When I was little my mam always complained how 'heavy on my feet' I was and how I went through shoes quickly, I can't imagine a pair of choes lasting me 10 years!

Hmmm... maybe I should get married in Hawaii just so I can have little hula dancers on everything... it doesn't really seem worth it though! I might have one hidden somewhere just to keep you girls happy!
