Yeah but Word-Nerd has such a lovely ring to it!

I forgot to check out the watersports last night for kayaking, I'll have to do it today and then I'll have my K!

I was playing with the invites last night but it's proving quite complicated for me as I'm fairly useless at making things on the computer! I was trying to make publisher do what I want it to do last night but it wasn't playing nicely! It doesn't help that we haven't got a printer at home to do test prints on! Grrr. I saw a fancy printer/scanner thingy in WH Smith last night and it's reduced to £49.99. I don't know if it's worth getting (or getting something similar/ a bit cheaper) as we need to print off all of the invites anyway and that's going to be a fair bit of printing and we could do with a home printer and scanner for my scrapbooking- it's no good finding things to print on a weekend and having to wait to go to work to use their printer! Although at work it is free so that's a big bonus! But I can't really expect them to let me print off about 30 pages of wedding invite at work!

Well to be fair I do print a lot of stuff at work (lots of pretty downloaded papers!) but I should really stop doing it! I think people are getting suspicious now and will be dobbing me in! Stupid people! They'll definitely dob me in if I print off my invites!

Ah we're lucky, the uni have brought in swipe cards for the printers, presumably to monitor how much individuals are printing, but the project I work on, we have to print loads of marketing material and letters, often in colour, so we can get away with a lot :D

    Oooh that is lucky!

I don't really have to worry about printing my invites yet, I have to figure out how to make them first! I know what they look like in my head but making it work on paper is another thing! Argh!

  • have just read through your whole thread birdie

your wedding sounds awesome I got married 4 and a half years ago in DR and it was lovely (just married the wrong man lol)

they will show you pics and stuff of other weddings when you meet the co ordinator (thomson holidays organised ours) the paperwork thing really isn't as bad as it sounds tbh have you def decided against the wedding taking place out there ?

the DR consulate where you send the docs is in manchester so much easier to keep track of than you may think :)

flowers i went with the carribean theme and they were awesome i paid i little extra and also had bridesmaid posy 4 corsages and 6 buttonholes the dvd quality was lovely and the woman who took it was english.

Translators for your documents aren't really expensive either :)

We had guitarists at the wedding as I thought they would be more authentic but they were truly awful lol and I regretted having them

our wedding was north side of the island in a place called sosua not sure if its near where your going but some of the same services may be provided if you are like the videographer.

have got a vague idea of the costs of things back then if you need them just let me know

Oh and despite it saying we may have to wait 6 months for certificate it was given to us 2 days after ceremony

Trying to think of anything else but my mind has gone blank lol ..................

ooo how about que sara sera (sp??) for the q on your a - z as that is the domincan attitude to everything

    hope that helps a little

good luck and keep posting xx

Thanks for your post poppyscorner! It's very reassuring to hear from someone who got married over there! I'm relieved that you say the videographer was good too! How much was it for your photographer and videographer if you don't mind me asking? I just keep seeing that they are 'payable locally' but I have no idea what to budget for them!

We've booked it now as a renewal of vows and I think that we'll keep it that way. We're both really quite lazy and disorganised so it seems like the best thing for us!

I think I'll stay away from having guitarists play! LOL!
