Oh dear woowoo - why did he say no? is he worried about you making repayments, or is he just against debt in general?0

OH is very cautious with his money, I don't think he doubts I would make the payments, he just doesn't want to take the risk.LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Good news on the Barclaycard that should help reduce the interest and bring you another few days closer to DFD. I dont mind repaying the debt it's the high interest that gets me if it was lower it wouldnt be so bad.
No new cards for me either 2 declined this year but hopefully will make use of the ones I have as I clear them.MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035
EST DFD JAN 2021 (that needs to change)
NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)0 -
Lloyds should go sub £5k next Fri now
I have to update my sig tomorrow as overall figure has gone up £21 cos of the balance transfer fee, hate this!
I really need to try and clear Lloyds by end of May to stand a real change of getting debt free by Dec 2011, I will find a way to do this!
I'm the same HWG, I don't even mind a reasonable rate like 6.9%, it's when the 24% etc I think it's disgusting.LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Probably right - perhaps if we';d had more caution...
My personal loan is from BF but that was his idea as I was paying immense interest rates on another loan and he had money stashed away that was earning him very little. He offered to lend me the money but I didnt want to be in his debt (in case it put pressure on our relationship) but we agreed that I would pay a rate of interest that would would both benefit from. I told him to look around and find the absoluytely best rate he could get, and I would pay .5% above that rate, as then he would be benefitting also. As it happens the figure ended up being almost exactly half way between the rate I was paying to the bank and the rate he was getting from the bank - shows how much profit they make on our savings!!!! Anyway, I insisted that it was all drawn up in a legally witnessed document so that if I am hit by a truck he can be repaid by my estate so its fine. I am sure if I wanted him to he'd pay off the CCs now as well but I dont want that - I want to do it myself (and dont really want him to know the extent of my debt!).0 -
A very sensible arrangement with your OH, it protects you both that way.
My OH always knew I was in debt, but I lied about the true amount for years. I hated going to the cash point with him as it shows on the screen how overdrawn you are and I was terrified he would see!
I fessed up last Aug though, he called me stupid but didn't lose the plot like I thought he would, I did think he might end things.LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Would have been a shame if it ended things Woowoo, glad it worked out. I suppose for me I see its none of my BF's business as we dont live together, we dont share finances at all and I pay my way on everything (more than my way at times - I'm good at over compensating!). I am embarrassed though, and dont want him to think of me as stupid or !!!!less... that said he understands that I have left a marriage and everything I had built up in those 12 years and effectively started again as a first time buyer with no deposit whilst paying maintenance for my ex and the two children (they lived with him to start with). Since then I have always tried to give the kids the best I could but teenagers are not cheap and with uni etc there has just been no let up. So that, on top of me not being able to wait for anything... well the rest is history!0

All these balance transfers and offers Happy!! Although I should be very grateful that all mine is in one place and interest free
Boo @ your OH Woo! Money in relationships can be so awkward, even in long term ones. My ex would take my last penny if he could have but Andy is great with money and is always offering it to me if I need it, trouble is that now I am worried about being like my ex!
Very happily married on 10th April 2013
