A massive, massive thank you to you all for your support – you are all very lovely and caring people :A.
Choccy – de pllllllaaaannnnneeeee has arrived with your card. It is so lovely, I'll get it on my blog for everyone to see. Hugs to you lovely lady.
Marg – we are like the Channel Islands and governed separately. Some things are better, some worse – swings and roundabouts.
The Wife – again, massive hugs to your friend. The unfairness of life just takes your breath away at times, doesn't it. I agree Lyndach's muesli and cranberry cookies sound good.
Twinkle – both dh and I have both gone through redundancies but have always been lucky that one or the other of us has always been in work. Gone are the days of jobs for life. Though it'll be a new one for us both being out of work at the same time (if it goes down that route).
Mumoffour – it is very like the 80s isn't it. I'm not as young as you. Dh and I both came out of Polytechnic (as it was in the 80s) to no jobs anywhere. I can remember filling in application after application after application – not good days.
I am still more upset about ds and his diagnosis than I am about dh's possible redundancy. We've done the out-of-work / redundancy dance before – it's not nice but you get through . Labelling my son as disabled and looking at the fact that he is not progressing to independence (and may never progress) is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Sorry about your daughter's mobility care - DLA is a crazy system, isn't it.
JHB – ((Hugs)). Both dh and I have wondered at various times over the years why we bothered to get an education. We are both degree qualified and past jobs have included stacking shelves and stuffing envelopes. Don't get me wrong, a job, any job is good and dh and I have always worked but IMO a lot of university degrees give false hope, a lot aren't worth the paper they are written on and our young people are ending up thousands of pounds in debt to get them. Oooh I need to get off my soapbox right now.
Papillongirl2 – hugs to your dd, hope her foot improves soon
Choccy – hugs to you you poor thing. Sounds like you need a hot toddy of whisky and honey – once the whisky reacts with your 26 painkillers, you won't care about your sore head(Sorry if that's in poor taste, my sense of humour can be a bit close to the bone, Frankie Boyle anyone?)
OAP – absolutely no need to feel guilty, you've both earnt a stable retirement. Hugs to your friends.
Emmabo – what fantastic news for your friend. I hope all is well and that she is well looked after. I'm all teary reading your post.
Peppop – lol at Wifey's cake. We could all be muppet characters, now who's Miss Piggy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Dragonlew – lovely, lovely cards
Nuttienettie – thank you so much. Anxiety is so debilitating, I have watched ds become incapacitated through it, you are most certainly not a weak and idiotic person.
Phew that was a mammoth catch up. Sorry if I have missed anyone out. For those with littlies, time to brace yourselves, it's that time of day again. Take care all.0 -
Wifey :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Sorry, just got to go and be nosy now.0

thriftyscotslass wrote: »Rusty - huge, huge hugs to you. I know you don't like to ask for help but would your family help. If that's a silly comment, please ignore it. I have a very small family (Mum and brother, no in-laws) where it is my role to support them, they cannot even see that I am in need of help and support myself. When I asked for help, my problems were denied as not as important as their issues.
Do you have a neighbour or friend that could maybe come to your house with her kids?
Is there a disability charity in your area that do home visits?
Please tell your doctor that you cannot cope and need help now. Ask him for a written letter, get it on record. Ask for a home visit, they'll soon find you an appointment at the surgery. Self-refer yourself to social services. It is so wrong that we have to fight like this for help in this country.
Please take care of yourself and let us know how you get on.
Love Thriftyxxx
If I think of anything else I'll post.
Thankyou for your reply, I am just in a mega flap cause I don't know how I will cope without OH! thing is I have managed on my own before so should be able to do it. We popped into my work to see my MIL & FIL and MIL is going to come to DD's nursery with me on Friday so I will sit in the car whilst she does the walking, then I only have to worry about picking her up but if I allow myself plenty of stopping time and use my stick I might be ok. I think my Pride will stop me from asking for help, even on sunday night when I couldn't walk I still told OH to drive to work, thankfully he refused but now he has to go back up tonight as he has already lost a fortune by not working these last 3 days.
Went back to see my doctor and looks like the referral has been made but just have to wait cause I need to see the same consultant as he knows history etc! so just need to play the waiting game.
I must have missed your posts whilst trying to play catch up! So sorry to hear things are not so good for you at the minute, things will start to look up soon, it may not seem like it but your luck has to change, if there is anything I can help with please do just shout, even if it is just a rant and a rave or someone to shout at! Sending massive hugs to you and your family xxxx
JHB - Chin up, OH was out of work for just under 7 and a job came out of the blue for him, please don't see it as everyone out to get you, I know it is hard, and such a struggle but just try and relax. Maybe you could see it as a way to do something else with any spare time? Maybe a small college course doing something? At least then you won't have to pay for the course? Just a thought though. Please tell me to mind my own business. xx
Pappilion - Thankyou, hope your DD's foot settles as quick as possible xxx
Choccy - I know what you are saying .... I had a headache yesterday and I am currently on 30 tablets a day :rotfl: ... thing is that I rattled before and if I lose weight I will rattle even more! :rotfl: Hope you feel better soon xxx oh and GET IT OUT OF ITS BOX!!!!!
Emmabo - Wow what fabulous news for your friend :j
Peppop lovely cake, is it calorie free?
Glittermum - Thankyou so much for the paints, they arrived safely xxxxx I might be able to help with the squeeze/alpha possibly
Lei - Thankyou for the gems they arrived safely xx
Rainmac - Thankyou for the beautiful card xxxx
I popped into boundary mill today with OH as I needed to buy my mum a present, I went with the intention of buying her a radley purse knowing a nice one will be about £50 ... anyway they had a massive sale on so all was reduced, I managed to get her a little radley bag and a matching mirror in leather case (also radley) for about £45 cause they had an extra 25% off last marked price :j my mum will love it! OH wanted to buy me a beautiful green radley bag but I just don't find them interesting (sorry don't mean to offend anyone!) I did buy some of the new Hampstead papers and also the hedgehog stickers! only thing was they never had the matching embellishments etc for the papers!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
