Morning all. Sorry for being AWOL again. Have tried to keep up but failing miserably, I was up to date with blogs yesterday evening! Need to catch up on them again.

OH is off back up north tonight as he doesn't get paid if he isn't there so not sure how I am going to manage the kids on my own for the next couple of days! :(
Still waiting for a referral from doctors, phoned them yesterday and nothing had been done, called back this morning and nothing is even mentioned on the system and yet apparently the girl on the phone said they were trying to help me?? I kind of shouted at her and told her I wanted an appointment with my own doctor which she refused!!! they make me so mad!! so I am going down there at 10:30 and will sit and wait until I am seen!, not sure how I will get down there yet :rotfl:

Hope everyone is ok? sending hugs to those who need them :) xxxx

Padster - I started the I spy card yesterday, I am full of ideas so put them down on paper but can't sit at the table for too long because of the pain!

Ah Rusty hope you get something sorted at the doctors today sending you lots of hugs xx
Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement yesterday - Section 2 of the ds's DLA form is now complete :T. It is a soul-destroying form, when you see every last little thing that is wrong with your son all written down in graphic detail, it is heart-breaking. The positive side of this is that I am so proud of him for coping so long in mainstream by himself without support. No wonder his mental health took such a hammering. That's another positive, he is so much happier than he was a year ago. Hopefully, this will just be a straight renewal of DLA for him and Carer's Allowance for me but as they say, time will tell.

Sorry, this is another me, me, me post :(. My knees are buckling again. Dh's job is under threat, the company is hanging on by the skin of it's teeth. All the familiar signs are there, long term staff and managers on higher wages are being made redundant; people are leaving and not being replaced; staff are going on sick because they cannot cope with the increased workload and dealing with continual customer complaints of poor service; people's jobs are being made so unpleasant they are almost being forced to leave (great for the company, no need to pay redundancy) etc, etc. Dhs job is being chipped away at, slowly everything he does is being taken off him and passed over to a central automated system - he reckons that over the next month 90% of his job will be taken off him and there is no sign of anything replacing it. So it's not looking good. Jeesh, that's all we need, three adults in one house on benefits with a mortgage to pay. Trying very hard "not to bleed until we're shot" but it's hard when your staring down the barrel of the gun :(

Love to all and huge hugs to anyone else out there who needs one.

Thrifty don't know what to say to make you feel better so sending you hugs xx

Hogshead :A- Yes, thank you they came last week. I'm sure I said thank you on here at the time, please accept my sincere apologies I should have sent a pm shouldn't I? I really do appreciate your kindness. I was amazed at how many you'd made and in such a range of pretty colours. I haven't used any yet but hope to make some cards very soon.

Rainmac - your ATC should be in the post later today - I did say thank you for yours didn't I?

Rusty - (((Big Hugs))) So sorry things aren't moving as quickly as they should - wish I lived nearer so I could help you out.

Thrifty - I really don't know what to say other than send you (((Big Hugs))) too. Hope your DH can hang on in - is it the sort of firm where things might pick up after the election? Do you have elections over there as we are now or is it a separately governed island?

Gotta go - I've loads of chores to do & take MIL for hairdo this pm:eek:

Don't want to read and run - I have a plan today ;) going to order some more Promarkers and try to make a card to two - but have to send huge hugs to:

Rusty I don't know what's wrong with GP surgeries these days. I have a friend who is a receptionist and she moans about what goes on . I hope you can get to the Drs and get something sorted.

Thrifty That form is a nightmare, DH filled one in last year but he got the social worker at the hospital to do it for him, who knew what to put and how to put it. Totally different situation to yours of course but it was a big help. D-i-l had one for her middle child, went to CAB and the old crock of a volunteer (sorry folks, am an old crock myself so not meaning to be disparaging) was hopeless, d-i-l knew more than her! Anyway, because she didn't have an official diagnosis in writing (only verbal "it could be .....") she didn't bother sending it off. Also, so sorry to hear about your OH's job situation. My DH was made redundant years ago and his firm paid out the absolute minimum they could get away with. I hope he can hang on until official redundancy even though it might be hard, at least he'll come away with something. I'm a great believer in things are planned out and happen for a reason, sometimes you can't see why but in time it becomes clear. I'm sure that there is something better waiting for him in the future.

Rusty and Thrifty sending you (((huge hugs))) because that's all I can do being so far away.

I've just phoned a friend who runs a Helen Rollinson charity event every year and I try to send small plants from work that are left over from planting. Her husband has being diagnosed with leukemia after her having had breast cancer. I was left just not knowing what to say.

  • Rusty – hugs to you and I hope you get on ok at the doctors. They are frustrating sometimes. We have the same problem at ours (I think I have only seen my own doctor once in 6 years) Could be worse I suppose my Mum’s Doctors now you phone them, they decide whether your ailment warrants a doctors calling you back (which could be hours later) then the doctors decides whether he sees you or not, I think the world has gone mad!!

Lyndach – like the sound of those cookies, please could you send one via the internet!

Thrifty – hugs to you and the family. Sometimes it feels like it never rains but it pours. We had a year like that last year with bad health (ok not much better this year) and redundancies with me and my husband. Just try not to stress yourself over it (ok I know easier to say than do) just try and tackle things one day at a time.

Hello to everyone else this morning – enjoy the sunshine!

Rusty and Thrifty Massive (hugs) and good thoughts being sent your way!!

Its almost like the 80's with so much uncertainty about jobs etc.... I was only a nipper then and my dad had lost his business and went bankrupt:( and we ate sausages, beans and potatoes....for years!!

Thrifty when i was filling out the forms for my DS (aspergers & ADHD) I cried so much seeing the things in black and white in your own hand is heart wreching :(
DD had a skin condition and I was in two minds to fill out the forms....I did minimally and took photographs of her legs arms ankles toes hands and fingers also torso.....she was awarded high rate care....NO mobility....her wheelchair is being delivered this week.....I asked for a review and they still said NO!! unbelievable really considering DS gets low rate mobility and high rate care!!
    :jIm going to be frugal:j

    ((hugs)) to Rusty and thrifty.
Rusty - hope you get something sorted at the dr's - it's not right that you should virtually have to do a sit-in protest just to be seen.
Thrifty - knowing all about the joys of unemployment *rolleyes* I can only hope that it doesn't come to that for your OH. And all these polirticians trying to convince us that we're out of recession? Shows what they know sitting in their ivory towers.

I have to go to the DWP today for a back to work meeting as I've now been unemployed for 7 months. I'll probably end up with some know-nothing 20 year old (as I had last time) trying to teach me to suck eggs. It's not as if I'm not trying - I've even been to the local chip shop this morning to see if they can give me a few hours a week. It makes me wonder why I bothered getting an education. :(

On a more positive note, the sun is shining and I hope you all have a lovely day x
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
