you could post the stuff you already have so we can think of ideas for you to do. I'm watching with interest as I would be interested in card ideas for beginners - I'm hoping to crafting as an activity at my next birthday party.

I have spent all afternoon going through the magazines and I really like the Magnolia stamps. Again I can order a stamp but what else do I need for stamping? Is it hard? Do you need to be artistic? Is it expensive? I can't find beginners instructions.

lizalloareds That's nasty. It was nice of them to tell you that after your holiday. Have you contacted ACAS to see if what they're doing is legal?

Sally I made a bit of a hash of it last night but I'll get back to it tonight for you.

kms That freebie is great :D

Ali thanks for the link to that b*** - I used to follow it but b****** must be up to its old tricks again

Congratulations ******** and WBR (wow great wins ladies!)

artydoll sorry you're feeling rubbish today, I hope it eases soon for you. Gentle hugs.

stamping isn't hard - you may want to book in at a local workshop just in case and they can advise you on materials etc. Whereabouts do you live if you don't mind me asking? you might have some lovely helpful craft shops near you. thinking of the cheapest way to start stamping - I would begin with free digital stamps try here. Print them out onto card as thin paper will wrinkle when you colour it. For the cheapest nicest colouring medium I would go for a set of watercolour pencils - I started with some WHSmith ones that are usually discounted in the back to school sale. Then you just need a cheap brush and some water to blend the watercolour pencils. Free backing paper can be found online when you eventually want to make a card. Hope this helps - feel free to come back with more questions.

    Hi,

I only started about a month ago and i am really into stamping. You could try digi stamps first as you just print them off and colour them in using Promarkers. Or if you want to get into rubber stamping you would need an ink pad and the stamps. You don't need to be artistic at all, im not and i do alright i think :o It's not hard at all it just takes a bit of practice

I would have a look on ebay for the stamps to start, as they can be quite expensive!

It maybe worth getting yourself a card making kit as there is usually step by step instructions with them

Also maybe have a look on some of the blogs on here just click the names and visit the homepage

this is a really useful link that I used when I began - iris folding is pretty simple but effective and there's printable backing paper too

check mags for freebies - they usually give you a good idea of how to use said freebies. Craft stamper usually has a free stamp with it and ideas on how to use it.

    Hello crafty cardmakers

I'm totally new to this and am not particularly creative so I'd love some advice from you folks. The threads are huge and I didn't know what to search for so I'm sorry if you've covered this topic already.

I want to make a birthday card but I don't want to buy anything new - I'd rather use what's around me - not much I'm afraid. I've got card, acrylic paints, string, a few beads and things. I might have one or two odd buttons. I was wondering about using stuff from the kitchen and garden too - like can dried beans or twigs and leaves be painted and stuck on? That kind of thing? I know it's not very professional but I'm trying to do this as cheaply and greenly as possible. I quite like the rustic look. It doesn't need to look perfect by any stretch - luckily for me the recipient is very much an "it's the thought that counts" sort of person.

So if anyone has any inspriration I'd be really grateful.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Perhaps you can use your paints to colour a digi stamp, loads of freebie ones here and then use buttons etc to embellish
