Just sorted out a new background for my blog, and thought I'd share some information with others who are having problems adding a new background. I've used a 'scrapmyblog' background and before I could add one, it wanted me to have my blog template set as 'Minima'. I followed their instructions but couldn't see the options that they said I should be able to see, so I did a help search on blogger.

If the new background that you want says that it needs to be a template for Minima, then you need to:

click on Design on the top right and when the 'add and arrange page elements' page appears, click on the 'Edit HTML' tab on the lefthand side, under settings and designs.

Scroll down to 'Old Templates', and click on 'select template layout'.
Choose Minima (top left option) and save the template.
Click the Page Elements tab - and add a gadget.
    Choose to add an HTML/Javascript.
Open up a website with the template you want on a separate internet tab, copy the code, go back onto the blogger tab and paste the code onto the HTML/Javascript page and save.

Your blog should have your new background on.

Hope the above makes sense, and helps someone to sort out a new template on their blog. It may solve your problem Quiksave?

Jowri Sorry to hear your sad news

OAP Congratulations, it's a shame the little one will be so far away

Sorry to those I have missed, been at work for 12 hours today, nothing on TV so my OH is playing on the PS3 while I finish a card off, then hopefully will finally have a chance to catch up on blogs. Only rained overnight here last night I guess we have been lucky with the rain.

Tomsmum - when you placed your order for your win stamps have you had a reply yet???

Sorry to snip you Ali. Not heard anything yet, I emailed my choice to Stitchy Monday lunchtime through the email link on the challenge blog.

Is it Choccy who's on the DT at OSAAT? Can you help us out here Choccy, what do we have to do to claim our prize for the Military challenge. I only had my laptop at the time and only had webmail, not Outlook Express. I got in a bit of a mess with webmail. Can you check to see if my email actually got to Sammy? Thanks so much.

Jowri - sorry to hear your sad news.

OAP - exciting news but so far away :(

Gem - great news about your hol, sounds exciting!

PepPop - hope the black cloud has lifted for your OH, hugs to you both.

Hello to any newbies I may have missed.

I've been out most of the day, only shopping but I did persuade OH to go an extra 20 miles to the big Tesco and I got my new printer. I ended up with the Epson SX415 as it was only £49.97. Not unpacked it yet, will do that tomorrow. Does anyone know if it will take the Craftworks Cards digi card, 250gsm, as my HP wont take it. I'm looking forward to printing out digi images with an ink that wont smudge :j.

I've spent the last couple of hours playing with blog backgrounds. I had CBOTB on my garden blog and have now changed that to one from My Style backgrounds, not sure if I like it enough to keep it, might try and find another garden themed one. I've at last got around to putting one on my card blog, got that from Allie Browns Layouts, it's very pink!!!!!!!!

Qwiksave Did you get yours sorted? CT's instructions are good. It seems that all the background places tell you to start off with the minima template. If you've used a different one previously and change to the minima there's some slight tweaking needed with some editing of previous posts (well, if you're fussy like me :rotfl: ).
If you want to change the font colours to suit the new background you need to go to DESIGN > TEMPLATE DESIGNER > ADVANCED and you'll find it all there.

Off on a blog hop now, I'm looking forward to seeing all the new blog backgrounds as well as the cards!

Thank you TomsMom, I have just spent the last 30 minutes (without checking back here) trying to work out how to change the font colour, so thank you for saying how you do it.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm pleased to say even though I haven't succeeded in getting the new code for my old template, at the moment at least I have finally got my old one back! :j I lost it earlier today whilst trying to get the new code so tried out a couple of Blogger templates but they weren't me at all. One was very bright orange!

I am SO GLAD that I saved my template before I started messing! I have had a look at some of the other suggested sites for backgrounds but would still like to keep my old flourishes one if I can. Trouble is 'The Cutest Blog on the Block' is constantly crashing because of the demand. Its so frustrating!

Rusty, the boxes I made for the teachers cookies, was designed by my OH. I have no idea how to design anything on the robo, I can only manage to set it to cut! If I see something that I like whilst blog hopping, and show it to him, he will have a go at trying to recreate it. He is quite techie when it comes to sorting out a design for things.

If you would like the file, let me know x

My blog is looking good, but half the links I do for challenges are in white, and half are in the same colour as the main text, anyone got any ideas how to get them all to be white?

CT - go to the part in Advanced where you change text colour, etc. Did you see the bar slides down? Go down to VISITED LINK COLOUR and choose your colour. This will change the colour of the words typed as links, also the blog archive headings. The text not included in the link will stay the same as your normal blog text. I hope that makes sense. I had a play with all of them to see what they all did :D.

ETA: CT - how did you get the green colour for your page background? I've tried changing the colour where it says Page Background Colour but it stays white.
