I've never heard of window display refusal - that's absolutely crazy. Surely they're not allowed to do that?! It's depriving the charity of money you're willing to donate! Rubbish.
As for the price of things in charity shops, my favourite one is quite expensive for a charity shop but not crazily so, because the stock is such good quality. For example, the yellow printed Topshop skirt I've worn on my blog was £3.99, but brand new with tags and not a mark on it. I've never seen any clothing priced below £1 but that's okay with me.
In contrast, the Oxfam a short drive away from me sells Primark stuff for £7-£10. It's hideously overpriced and badly laid out, with rubbish displays and no thought to structure.0 -

Camden, St Johns Wood, Hampstead areas were full with stuff my s-i-l, husband and I took there when clearing out a few years ago . They actually asked us to stp bringing so much as they couldn't fit it in to sort it out in the first one, ...hence moving further down the hill, spreading the amazing supply of vintage clothing. Again..in retrospect we should have sold it, some of it was pretty cool stuff. 60s/70s /80s wear.0 -
I really dislike Oxfam charity shops - they always seem to be massively overpriced and like Jen says, really badly laid out.
Well done Nikki! Lovely dress
Today's plain outfit is up on the blog.0 -
GG - your Oxfam is a similar sounding one to our's and the BHF too which is a shame as I can't see them shifting it at those prices.
Chelmsford isn't posh but it's the posher town locally as a lot of people commute to London on the fast train. Where we live now is quite a nice area hence the tiny house. We used to have a beautiful big house but the estate wasn't the place to start a family IYKWIM. I miss the space though, not the neighbours!0 -
Went in the Oxfam in Edinburgh city Centre once- it was ridiculous- you could easily shop on Princes Street way cheaper especially in the sales.
Amazing fitting into that dress Nikki, it looks tiny, but lovely. Wear it in daytime with a tee underneath like daisy says:)Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
Grocery challenge November : £291.65/300.00 NSD 10
Grocery challenge December : £0/240.00 NSD0 -
GG- £7-£10 is about average price for everything in the charity shops here.
and I agree, madness about the boots, I was gutted but couldn't deal with the hassle.
I reckon it's because the shop holds the town's coveted "best window display" award. Seriously.0 -
I could have bought lots of stuff today but I personally felt a lot of it was overpriced, but I think I'm getting really tight when it comes to CS! I always ignore the primark stuff, it makes me laugh how they can often price things higher that what primark originally sold it for!
I always try things in before I buy and if I'm not 100% sure I put it back. I've never seen anything priced less than £1 in a charity shop (in terms of clothes), jumble sales is where it's at...closely followed by carboot sales*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -

Just read you signature!
When did you have time to:
A) study!be a size 8!
Lol, he's almost 9 months and I guess I'm lucky that he's such a content baby. Sleeps at the same time every day etc so allows me to study
I didn't show that I was pregnant until I was 7 months gone, even then I was 'all baby' so I lost it within 2 weeks of having him. I did make the mistake of joining the gym 5 weeks after giving birth - ouch!!!
But of course he's so much more stylish than me!!daisybella wrote: »Nikki- that is lovely, it'd be nice layered with a long sleeve top under it
Thats an idea, can't wait for it to arrive so I can try to make a complete outfit from it!0 -

I usually stick around camden, never been up as far as St Johns Wood.
Sounds like lots of people ended up with some real bargains.
