    I'm so horribly cold :(
My Dad keeps turning the heating off completley instead of working out a compromise. I have three cardis on, thick tights, a blanket and mittens and my fingers are still purple.

    Bad mood returning

    Kandi (hello!)

I'm 35 and a size 16 (just gone into from a size 18). Not sure how long ago it was that you've browsed the shops? I was pleasantly surprised as to how much variety there is in the 'high street' for us 'bigger' ladies - I even bought some things from New Look !

Do you have an ebay account? I've managed to get loads of things from there recently. Like you, I needed more colour too, everything was black/dark colours. I'm still learning though, this lot are keeping me in check (and doing a fab job of it too I might add !) You'll get loads of inspiration on here :D

    Makes sense to me PF.

And I'm the same with trends and stuff. I don't buy stuff because it's in fashion, despite loving fashion. I buy things and wear things because I like them and because they will last me through several seasons.

I'm with you there Daisy. I'll incorporate elements of current fashions into what I wear rather than buy the latest thing off the rack. I don't tend to shop at Primark, one because I think the prices can tempt you to buy more than you need, and that's something I try to avoid now, and two, I find I've had more washing disasters with Primark things than anything else - mind you I could shrink a Billy Smarts circus marquee into a one man tent!

Now and again I do pop in to have a look at the shoes and acessories - I got a lovely pair on elbow length leather gloves for £1 there just after Christmas. Actually, they're pretty tight fitting and look a bit like fetish gloves, but hey, they can either start or stop a conversation!

I prefer to shop at charity shops, looking for vintage pieces and good labels, ebay, TK Maxx (ditto good labels - got a pair of Patrick Cox heels for £3 in one of their sales) basically and New Look, esp for jeans. Wish I could get some of Goan's bargains tho!

New Look jeans are the best IMO.

We all wish we could get Goans bargains!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome and support.
It's nice to know I'm not the only.. lets say curvy ;) lady about.

jtb2412 - I just had a quick look at your blog and love the bits you have recently bought, you look great too! Must have felt great to go down a dress size like that - whats your secret?
goanmad - your blog is brill - I have followed it for a while now and love all your funky finds, and think that your quote should inspire me to be a bit more daring - it's better to be looked over than overlooked!

My problem is that I work in a male dominated industry and can't really wear nice stuff for work as I can sometimes be out on constructions sites, and a pretty skirt don't go well with safety boots and a hard hat :) - that's my excuse anyway.

aww, i hate being cold too.
One of my housemates last year decided they'd rather save money on heating than takeaways (sore point, yes! :p)so i spend a lot of time in my sleeping bag with tons of jumpers
I got OH some usb heated gloves & slippers from here for xmas. I was suprised how warm they get and they're pretty cheap (about £6 for slippers & £3 for gloves)
...but theyre in china so it would probably be warm enough not to need them by the time they got here

    fetish gloves... sound interesting!

I've just got back from charity shopping. There's about 5 within 5 minutes of my flat (and then another 4 10 mins down the hill)
Sadly the clothes stock isn't usually very good. It's a studenty area and there's a lot of primark/tesco/new look priced at very little below what it would be new. Fantastic for books & CDs though, my favourite has an almost permanant 2 for 50p sale on books. I feel like i'm robbing them :o

I just bought a cabinet for next to my desk for £5 which is an absolutely perfect fit despite the odd shaped gap i wanted it for. I'm far more excited than a normal person should be that i can move my other drawers back to the wardrobe so my tights & belts have a home!

Oh, I don't know! :rotfl:I had a similar problem when I worked in the hospitality industory many years ago and had to find ways of making my morning suit look a bit cooler and funkier.

Even if you have to wear practical stuff for work why not accessorise with some pretty earrings, loud tights or vibrant nail polish? Little things like that really make a difference and size isn't a factor.
