Is noone else absolutely appalled that someone can't raise £11 to go to a job interview and seems to think it is the government's responsibility to pay for him to get there?

What a society we live in.

Is there anything you can stick on ebay? You would be amazed how quickly things can sell!

Money for clothing at the JCP is usually through vouchers, you will not get the cash. Please do not be tempted to apply for a crisis loan and state it is for other purposes - you'll only end up in trouble!

Ebay's no good - he needs the money today - Ebay stuff can take a week to sell, then you have to wait for payment, get it transferred from Paypal...the only answer is to pawn something (Cash Convertor and the like). Phone, TV, computer...whatever it takes.

ETA: I see you have sorted it - well done and good luck!

No. I've tried living on JSA and it's bloody difficult. Fair play to him for doing some travel and making an effort. I am happy for my taxes to be used for this purpose. (Not so happy about the inefficient system for doing it obv)
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

OP - I live near Stansted. Not sure where you are exactly (you might be the other way) but if you need a lift, message me.

I was on JSA last year and finally been working for a few months so happy to help.

What a small minded and rude comment. If you had read what i have posted previous you would seen i have turned down money for suits and all sorts as i didnt want to take what i really didnt need ( unlike alot of other people )

I have never been out of work and had no choice but to claim JSA since i was 16 ever even tho i have been made redundant on two occasions in the last ten years. I live on JSA and i can assure you it dosnt allow a life of easy living. I have cut down on everything from sky, BB, Mobile contracts, nights out, clothes, brand foods and anything that working life allows me. If you really think its ok to get £100 for a suit, money for haircuts etc but not a bus fare to a job interview i know will get me back to work then you have a strange view on society

I'd like to think post #45 reflects the society we live in

Sadly I think post #42 is closer to the mark

I'm sad to read you've had problems with JCP & the Travel to Interview scheme - although happily it looks like tronski, bless 'em, has sorted you now.

I've known cash advances of TIS to be paid by JCP in past - with just the need for the applicant to produce the tickets afterwards.

However due to the systematic abuse of this service by too many people - eg getting a cash advance for round trip to XYZ town for an interview & then not going to said interview - & the inability (legislatively) for JCP to get that money back, the many have unfortunately had to suffer for the actions of the few.
