Perriwinkle - sorry to hear about your hubby, thinking of you all.
cw18 - Forgot that DS will be home from Uni during this month's challenge and he loves his food. I can feel a big bake and multi cook coming on
Went to Cash and Carry - spent £17.80 but that included 40 toilet rolls. Didn't realise that I had picked up a 40 pack instead of a 24 pack - but only realised that I had been charged for 24 - so loads of roll for just over £7.Just got to find somewhere to put them all now.
Also went to L*dl - and spent £38.35. Have stocked up well now - may only need milk and F/V for the next few weeks. I will try to go to the market on Thursday morning as it is cheaper there.
Supposed to be having a new boiler fitted this week - when the plumber gets here. Hopefully soon.
Good luck to everyone and wish you all Happy Whoopsie-ing
Thank you for your kind words I really appreciate it as they say, one day at a time and at the moment it's not too bad.0 -
Please can you put me down for £60.00 for March. I already have a lot of things I need for meals, but will need to get washing tablets/toiletries etc. so that will bump it up.
I've spent £4.45 already today. Needed milk and wanted to look in Sainsburys anyway, but ended up getting some tissues for work, some body spray, crumpets reduced to 15p so grabbed 2 packs for the freezer. Also got some crisps and sweets which I know are rubbish, but I wanted themThink my tastebuds are on the blink as everything tastes odd today, so could have eaten some paper and wouldn't have noticed!

Hi all,
did my first shop of the month, spent £16.05p on pack lunch, margarine, milk and washing up stuff. Planning on doing my stock up on Friday as i have £3 off £30 voucher fr sainsburys.
Right to sort the kitchen / frontroom stuff bye for now.0 -
Bread rolls and a 'normous cake for me at lunchtime. nom nom nom, but very naughty!! OH has gone to Mr T tonight en route to a somewhere else. He very sensibly rang, said he was early for his appointment, and did I want him to get anything? So put my order in! Our fridge is empty apart from half a jar of cranberry sauce and a pint of milk. We have successfully run it down and used every single thing.
We had a turkey drumstick in the slow cooker for tea, and our last tin of Te$co value new potatoes. It was edible, and filling, perhaps not my favourite meal, but OK.0 -
Well, today was a major shopping day, food-wise!!! Have spent in total £183.19 on food and household items...that's over half my monthly budget gone already!!
I do have enough meat and baking stuff to last most of the month and should only need to get milk and F&V weekly (starting next week, fully stocked for this week!).
I would like to think I can make it this month, though there may be three weekend trips to Scotland, which could well smash this total, but we'll have to wait and see if DS2 does get into the Scoltand under-17 rugby team...I can't stand the wait, he did the trials in January!
Right off to have a relaxing night infront of the tv, and then an early night...I am kn****red tonight!
Hoping to spend very little the rest of the week!

Welcome to the GC miss saveapenny and Bluefire
MrsMC, your oh is well trained :T
winterfrost, I do the same as brodi, I have half a sack at a time (shared with my sis); I keep them in the original paper sack if I have it, or else in a basket or cardboard - something breathable - and cover them with newspaper so the light doesnt get to them; my meter cupboard has an outside vent so its always cold in the winter so that's where they are now, not sure where I'll keep them in the summer though
catznine, I've put your recipe for easy cheese biscuits in the front page index, thanks
.
Hi again,
we never buy sacks in the summer, they always sprout to easily:)Tend to buy new pots then and eat mainly salads in the summer. My neighbour grows potatoes in some big plastic dustbins for the warmer months. I always grow lettuce and toms , sometimes courgettes and peppers too mainly in tubs near the back door. We have a 22ft gardedn but if it is hot in the summer I find it a problem watering, heat effects my MS.:(
So I need the veg nearer.
