    Morning everyone :D

I managed to be good in the Co-Op today, just brought what was on my list :D

Saving my recipts has helped sort where I was over spending and makes me think before buying now so hopefully we (2 adults,2 kids and a little dog) will eat better and cheaper lol.

Hope to get paid sometime this week so off to do a menu plan before the big(ish) shop :D.

Hope you all have a great day today :D

First time on the GC and could very well be my 2nd NSD, feeling very chuffed :rotfl:

Have chilli going in the SC for dinner and need to get some bread/rolls made to make that NSD . . . otherwise it'll be a BSD. Bread Spend Day :D Will be doing an online shop probably tomorrow and adding a few more 'value' or at least own brand items to test out, still surprised how many of them are very good!

Please put us down for £180 again for March please Mrs M - thanks!

We'll have our £50 budget again too for meals out/cafes - will be interesting to see what we manage since both DH's birthday and Mothering Sunday are in March.

  • Afternoon all,

Did a very quick meal plan last night ( just with things I could remember we had in the freezer ) and came up with 14 meals! There's probably enough in there for at least another 7 as well so shouldn't need too much for the next few weeks.

Need to pop to the fruit and veg shop to get some food for the guinea pigs and will pick some milk up from there as I think it's only £1 for 4 pints.

I have some left over beef casserole in the freezer which I was going to turn into pasties... but I don't know how to make pastry :o I know there's pastry recipes on the first page of this thread but I don't know what pastry to make for pasties?? ( I know this is probably a very obvious question but I've never made pastry before! )

Can someone point me in the right direction please?!
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011 :D

the usual for pasties is puff pastry I think but I would buy the frozen blocks rather than have the faff of making my own; I prefer shortcrust pastry anyway - make my own and do extra to freeze - so I usually make some kind of pie, you could make individual sized ones if you want them for packed lunches? hth :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Here's a recipe for shortcrust pastry which is what I use for pasties! The secret is to keep it cool and have a light 'touch':)

A couple of spends today. £15 Mr S, £5 Aldi last night, £8 Co op & £10 Iceland. still need to go to Farm Foods tomorrow for milk. So much for avoiding going to too many shops today. However, if this is all I spend for the week, then that should be ok. (A lot of my spending occurs on a Tuesday or Wesnesday, cos I am not at work on those days.)
Just realised that my adding up when I updated signature was a little wrong, so will correct that now.
