So including these spends the total so far is £60.72 which is divided up by..............Probably seems somewhat obsessive but I found it quite interesting to see what the breakdown is. I know I'll be in for a shock come the end of the month when I see how much money goes on junk food and pop!
No, I think it's a great idea!I say I'm going grocery shopping, but in truth the word grocery has come to cover a multitude of things, many that aren't 'food'. I'll be keeping this idea in mind, I'd find it interesting too, to see how much of our "grocery budget" actually goes toward edible goods!
Ta for the idea! :beer:0 -

Hi scotdebs - can I just ask if the Chicken Fajitas were homemade or made up from a packet - I'm looking for a nice Fajita recipe to try and make for myself rather than using a packet for the spices etc.;)
banwa - didn't realise it is National Pie week this week and funnily enough we are having HM Turkey & leek pie tonight, serving it with boiled salad potatoes, carrots and cabbage - yum.
Thanks to whoever mentioned the 5kg potatoes from Aldi for 49p - should be able to pop there tomorrow or Thursday.;)
Have a good evening everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Could you please put me down for £170 for March, really need to reign my spending in. Need to total up for February but think I have failed miserably.0

Evening all,
just popping on for my daily post to keep me on track (feel free to ignore!)
NSD today for groceries, was very tired on my way home today and couldnt even be bothered popping into Mr T for whoopsies even though it was ideal whoopsie time!
Thankfully have some rubber chicken, veg and potatoes cooked and left in the fridge so i dont have to cook tonight, i have had a big bowl of carrot, lentil and veg soup i made the other day, the favourite thing i cook as it turns out lovely and i cant really go wrong lol.
I unfortunately have no chickens left i can cook in the freezer though, for making stock and scraps for the soup so will probably make next batch with stock cube, which im loathe to do as i make it mainly for dd for her lunches and i avoid adding salt to her food.Hmm i actually think i may have some frozen chicken stock hidden away, how long will it be ok for, i have had it in there a while if its where i think it is?
Well i think i will take a shoulder of pork (or a leg, cant remember) out of the freezer overnight and sc it tommorow, and i will cook the bag of 30p Mr M potatoes and so some veg, that should do dh while im at work all day.
I shall stop waffling now!
Night all x0 -
Scotsaver,
I think you asked about fajita recipies? Jamie Oliver does a brilliant one in his Miinistry of Food book. We use it all the time simple, tasty:j n cheap.Brodie1:jBrodie 1/ july 300/330.62:oAugust300/322.49:o

Well, I'm a bit late, but I've finally managed to stockcheck the freezer and pantry today - I was right, we can eat out of it until next Tuesday, which is great
I have however booked Ocado and Asda deliveries for this week as I had codes drop in on emails that have saved me over £20 between the two (not including the deals - another £25 at least saved there). The Ocado order comes tomorrow and is full of packed lunch bits for this month and next, and basics like sauces, cereal and drinks, with a couple of tubs of their (extremely nice) organic ice cream for the birthdays coming up this month.
The Asda order I brought forward from next Weds to this Thursday - Branston Beans while they are still on offer, and a lot of frozen stuff from the 4for£3 deal, including some party foods.
It'll mean my totals will take a big hit this week, but on the plus side, other than milk, bread, fruit and veg over the next weeks, I should be done for the month.
Then it'll be a case of sitting on my hands rather than killing time popping into the Co-op on the school runsDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Just a quick question. I have veggies visiting this weekend and wanted to make a trifle for dessert (I have some cake crumbs in the freezer to use up!) However, I can't use jelly in the trifle because of the gelatine. Does anyone know of a veggie alternative, or should I just leave it out altogether? I think I could use fruit juice and arrowroot but am not sure of the quantities. Any hints or tips would be most welcome.
thanks

No need for jelly! Just soak the fruit and sponge with sherry or fruit juice then top with custard and cream! Thats how I always make trifle!:)Less is more0
