My Asda order is scheduled to come tomorrow pm! One of those days when I didn't know what to buy to cook for a change! Desperately need some inspiration! Ordered some treats and cancelled the washing powder to stay within budget! How bad is that! :o
On a positive side today was a no spend day and the grocery bill for tomorrow is £35.78.:)

Had a trawl through Asda this evening, didn't really need anything but the muller corners were still on offer, and the frozen chicken breasts are always sold out when I need them (I like to have some in for emergencies:rotfl:)

Also got 4 x frozen pizzas, of the 4 for £3 offer. Knew when I got home I wouldn't have any inclination to cook:D I don't often buy frozen ready type stuff but I really was not in the mood to be a kitchen goddess today.

OH cooked the pizzas to perfection while I slumped in front of the TV - bliss.

Just a quick question. I have veggies visiting this weekend and wanted to make a trifle for dessert (I have some cake crumbs in the freezer to use up!) However, I can't use jelly in the trifle because of the gelatine. Does anyone know of a veggie alternative, or should I just leave it out altogether? I think I could use fruit juice and arrowroot but am not sure of the quantities. Any hints or tips would be most welcome.

    thanks

If you do want to use jelly most of the crystal type ones are veggie.
  • eeeep! I havent updated in a while, got a lot to do! Had another NSD today so whoop whoop! go me! but boyf. did spend £2 on a coke and a paper...hmmmm...best laid plans and all that!

Spent £7.39 yesterday on basics from farmfoods, the local market and Mr T's. Awesome deals in farmfoods!...
    2 loaves of bread = £1
    2 4pinter's of milk = £1.50
    2 x 2kg bags of spuds = 69p or 2 for £1
    Onions = 69p each or 2 for £1
....making use of those deals at the minute!:T

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi scotdebs - can I just ask if the Chicken Fajitas were homemade or made up from a packet - I'm looking for a nice Fajita recipe to try and make for myself rather than using a packet for the spices etc.;)

    Fajita Seasoning
    2 tsp chilli powder
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp paprika
    ¾ tsp stock powder
    ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
    ¼ tsp cumin
    Large splash lime juice

Would love to take the credit for this, but I'm pretty sure I copied this from a post on here! :o So if this is your recipe, thanks!! HTH

SCOTSAVER - I have not 1 not 2 but 4 packets of ready made faijita spice mix in my cupboard (:o shameful I know) so I am going to be using those up first and will then work out which is the cheapest option going forward - have wared DH that they could be a regular on the meal plan for a while as I only use 1/2 packet at a time :p

Does anybody know what N*tto and it's products are like nowadays? I'm more of an A*di girl myself but have been wondering about venturing into my local store for a change. Good luck for March everyone.:)
I have to say that I don't have a problem with Netto at all. I don't buy my meat there (get it from a butcher) and I tend to get fruit & veg on the market, but everything else is great :T In fact I have tried a couple of Asda online orders recently and the kids have been complaining about the baked beans - they prefer Netto's :rotfl:

I buy big sacks of dog food and their coconut shampoo & conditioners are fab. DD & I both have highlighted hair and we love them. Much better than some of the more expensive branded ones especially for coloured hair that I've bought in the past.

HTH and don't worry I always get strangely excited at the start of the month too :)

two days in and away i go again, shopping for entertainment! my name is poppy and i am a shopoholic....
bought pop and juices and onions in lidl
bought potatoes, oil, £1 curry sauces, noodles and 2 for 1 cheese in tesco. (need not have bought the £1 pataks sauces as usually buy the 86p tesco one ... where is the money saving there..)
in an attempt to come in this month on budget am aiming to spend no more than £40 each week, so £17 max left to spend between now and sunday night.
Have two freezers full plus the spare food store full, so no need to buy anything except fruit (and could do without that and have dried apricots and sultanas when the fresh runs out, and tinned pears, apricots and pineapple too..).

Good luck everyone, i'm hoping your example will rub off on me this month..
