I didn't 'just look up Africa on the web' it was from mine and my family members experience that we took malaria tablets when we went to Egypt.WE DID visit our GP before we went who gave us our jabs and the advise on malaria,as I said maybe things have changed in the last couple of years!

I'm sure you didn't 'just look up Africa on the web'.
I will put a smilie in next time so people know when something is a little tongue in cheek :-)

I am sure you went through the proper procedures but as you know the advice regularly changes and some people are on medication which means they need to be extra careful so I would still stand by the advice that a personal consultation is good if it's offered for free.
I didn't know for example that taking the pill affected my digestion and therefore I had to be more careful.

I am sure mossies don't pick their hotels. I was just trying to make the point that on different types of holidays, different medication may be prescribed.
I have certainly discussed the standard of hotels with GPs as sometimes there are differences between 5* hotels and (for example) hostels in (for example) the quality of food and water provided.
Nile cruises (as another example) have a bad reputation as far as food goes, so I would say the type of holiday is quite relevant even if the mossies can't tell the difference :-)
