Hi, my son has never been abroad before (he's 8 years old). He has just been taught all about Egypt at school this last couple of terms and he really wants to go there. My husband and i would love to take him.
I have tried searching for holidays to Egypt but they are all different prices and im getting quite confused. I'm just hopeless at searching for holidays on the internet so i was wondering if anyone could help me.
He wants to see all the sights in Cario and Luxor but i know they are far way from each other, this just confuses me even more about where to stay.
As this is his first time abroad i want to get it right. Please could anyone help me or point me in the right direction. Also, whats the difference between half board and bb. (sorry if that sounds a bit thick)
We would like to leave from Manchester airport in the last two weeks of October. We would like to stay for a week.
Please help if you can
xx

Here's what the foreign office says about travel to Egypt http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket%2FXcelerate%2FShowPage&c=Page&cid=1007029390590&a=KCountryAdvice&aid=1013618385875
bb is Bed & Breakfast
BTW the mummies and other Egyptian things in London's British Museum are fantastic and it's free http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/world/egypt/egypt.htmlPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I live in Holland but I've seen some nile cruises advertised over here which have looked very reasonable prices (around £300). The main advantages of those are that you get to travel between places and spend a day in each place. Maybe you could get something similar flying from Manchester?0

I think you have to read the fco advice and decide for yourself.
Perhaps find out from the school what they are going to do next, the topic might be somewhere in Europe and go there instead.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

This year they did Ancient Egypt and next year they are doing the invaders, settlers and vikings, so i think i may stick with Egypt even though i didnt realise it was so unsafe. Actually, i think i'm having second thoughts on Egpyt. Not sure what to do now.Shannon x0 -
I'm taking my 2 children aged 11 and 9 to Egypt in december. Weere going to Cairo as even though the hotel is costing much more than going to Luxor or Sharm it will save us in the long run as we want to see the pyramids and coach trips from Luxor or Sharm to the pyramids cost lots of money. So it really does save in the long run. We are staying at Le Meridien Pyramids hotel where you can see the pyramids from the hotel room on a bed and breakfast basis. One week in december for 2 adults (I had to pay adult prices for my 11 year old  ) and 1 child has cost me £1,300. If you want further info to make your mind up try typing Cairo or Egypt into Youtube.com and see some other peoples holiday videos.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
