He said other places he would like to go are France,Italy and Brazil ( as you can see he loved the world cup when it was on.he he)

I want this trip to be educational and fun.
Just for starter and for a benchmark on pricing, why not take a look at Archers Direct (we went to Lapland with them and I thought they were great). They do lots of touring holidays (minimum age is eight, so you should be fine there) for example this one to Rome/Naples/ Sorrento & Pompeii etc. or Venice Florence & Pisa here

One thing to bear in mind with Archers is that the price is what you see, (ie they don't book through agents so there is no haggling) so it's generally pretty fair for the money (IMO!).

They go all over the world though, so take a browse on the site (at least it will give you some ideas!).

I personally love coach touring as you always see so much (but I get that it's not for everyone).

Why not give him a heads up on next year's curriculum and take him somewhere that he can learn about invaders, settlers or vikings?

Like the Viking museum in York (I thought it was fab!)

Me too! I did think of York as soon as I'd posted that but forgot to double back and edit! All the things mentioned could be learned about very well in Britain. (But I've got Little House on the Prairie in mind re the settlers thing!)

Oh that's great. It's really interesting. (It stinks. I imagine that will appeal to the lad too!)
