Parking Eye - Nasty tricks
Comments
-
I recently parked in a private car park operated by Parking Eye. They had changed the time allocated from 2 hours down to 1. Although they changed the signs it wasn't widely publicised. Let's face it when you use a car park on a regular basis how many times do you check the signs to see if it has changed? People only found out about it when someone posted a letter in the local paper warning people of it. Anyway they said I had to pay £50. I got the letter 4th May and had until 10th May to pay it otherwise it would rise to £80 + £30 administration fee??? I paid it right away cos I was frightened of getting a "fine". A lot of other people got stung with it also. Now there has been so much uproar that they have changed it back to 2 hours. I think I should get a refund. What does anyone else think? Have I got a leg to stand on with regards to getting my money back?
Unfortunately you are one of the uninformed who keep these vultures in business.
Your best bet would have been to ignore all correspondence with them and not coughed up a penny. Yes it can seem a little scary to people who are unaware of their shameful tactics but hopefully you will learn your lesson if it happens again.
Think of that £50 you could have spent on yourself instead.:)0 -

I have just received a parking charge from Parking Eye in Chorley telling me I was in the carpark in Whalley on 11th May....which I was . I am almost certain that I bought a ticket, usually 1pound for unlimited . The timings they give put me over 1 hour by 18 mins, perhaps they have changed the permitted timing? I use the carpark when I am in the area on business, I live 2 hours away and cannot check the regulations. Help!!!!Please!!!!0

Pleeease............just read all the other advice that is posted on here regarding IGNORING everything they send you and NOT contacting them at all.0 -
As many people have, I got a charming letter from Parking Eye, was going to bin it anyway on the basis that they could try their best to get my money and good luck to them but I would have worried about the subsequent letters.
Took the advice of many people on here and threw all four in the bin (recieved in order as outlined on here) - that was several weeks ago and it's all gone quiet.
So to reiterate what has been said on here a thousand times: DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE A PENNY, BIN THE LETTERS AND IGNORE THEM!0 -
Thanks Phil you are right about not paying and ignoring them, it is advisable to file the letters away to dig them out to ave a laugh in years to come
or to keep them to show others what scam it is
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Thank gawd I found this thread. I've just spent an hour drafting a letter to Parking Eye which I will now bin. I have sent my story to Watchdog though as I know Parking Eye have been mentioned on there before. I have also contacted The British Parking Association...hopefully if they get enough complaints one day this evil company will be struck off.
I received a charge this morning for £60 if paid by 5th June, £90 if paid by 20th June, £120 if not paid by then.
Basically whilst on holiday last week I went to drop my son off to do some surfing. The intention was not to park but to leave him there and pick him up later. The weather was very windy and overcast when we arrived and the sea didn’t look good for surfing so I sat in the car whilst my son walked back and forth between the car and the surf shop as he tried to decided whether to stay and have some surf lessons or not (ie cold windy overcast, and practically no surf due to the strong winds). Eventually he decided not to stay and surf. It took a while for him to reach that decision, first reading the leaflets he’d just picked up at the surf shop and then discussing his options with me (his mum). After he decided not to go surfing I suggested we went for a walk on the beach instead. At that point we went to the pay and display machine and after going to the bar round the corner for some change, payed for an hours parking.
The charge is for the time I was sat in the car whilst my son went to the surf centre and back, plus the time it took us to get some change. I've never come across anything like this in my life before.0 -
The BPA won't do anything. It's a boys club made up of these scammers.
But glad you found the thread!!One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

From now on break off all communications with these clowns. You don't owe them a penny. And, by the way, it's not a "fine".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
