Parking Eye - Nasty tricks

  • Ok I have read your posts ...but my situation is slightly different in that I got a parking fine after outstaying a 2 hour limit at my local shopping centre. I am familiar with the shopping centre as a local resident and had gone into the leisure/health centre unaware that this limit applied. The signage that day was slightly obscured by construction works.
On receipt of the 'fine' I contacted PE (by e-mail) to appeal but as their response time is 10 days by the time I get a reply (if i get a reply) the charge will increase from £40 to £70...naturally I am feeling inclined to simply pay this by the initial deadline before the charge increases!?
As I have already tried an appeal - where do I now stand in ignoring the demands for payment? Help!!!
As a law abiding person I am feeling obliged to just pay for my own silly oversight - what is my stance??? My bank account is not exactly oozing cash! Thanks all!:(

The best thing is to just read the CURRENT threads you will find when you click back just one click. We have threads from today!! Did you miss all of them and only found this old rubbish?

Please read the current threads - one click away - and you can start a new thread there if needed.

Easy. As easy as ignoring a fake PCN or a phishing email (same sort of scam).

Please, oh please newbies, do not reply here.

    Perhaps you missed this?

Please post here for further advice.

That's the second time you've asked a newbie that in two different threads.

Either you work for MORI, or......??

Jaycee, beware of any PMs from graft99, he/she may be on a fishing trip.

    Well....?

No its not any different - unless you can demonstrate how you are somehow excluded from the same laws that govern the rest of us.

Any number of PE threads answering this in the Forum - in exactly the same circumstances and the advice is the same whatever - IGNORE! Or better still start your own thread.

And be careful of graft99 - Its not unusual for PPC stooges to trawl for personal details/other info here and this poster has been acting suspiciously on other PE threads.

Well, I have just received my first PCN (parking charge notification) from Parking Eye for parking 14 minutes over the allowed 90 minutes at an Aldi car park, after I did a trolleyful of shopping at their store. About 20 minutes of this was spent (a) asking for prices that were not displayed and (b) packing my shopping into bags after check-out, because they don't give you time to place in bags at the till. PCN is anxiety raising. But this ole-gal is not paying up.

Hoping this reply is the closing note on this thread :-)

  • We have just moved house and having been shopping lot at our local BM store in Belper. Two weeks we got a letter from parking eye with their photo evidence saying that as we had stayed longer than 90 minutes in the car park we were had to pay a £100 fine. It did ask for documentary evidence to show that were were "legally"parked. So we sent out receipt that clearly shows from the time stamp that we had been shopping at BM. we left the car park five minutes after checking out. we sent a copy of our receipt with a covering letter to PE and presumed that the matter was closed. However this morning another letter from PE arrived saying"you have provided evidence of purchase. however please be advised that this does not meet the discretionary criteria set by the landowner in this case"
what nonsense. what is this discretionary criteria and dont BM want customers to shop there for over 90 minutes?
The letter then says "in order or PE to cancel this parking charge, we will need valid evidence indicating that you did not break the terms and conditions stipulated on the signage"
what does that drivel mean. we are not paying this. first they ask for a receipt to prove why were there and then when we have that ask for further evidence without stipulating what evidence they require.
this is extortion pure and simple.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
