Its funny how following my provisional offer he and few of the other haters have disappeared of this thread. He claimed to be an "expert" with "insider understanding" and ridiculed me for believing that I could overturn or at least get feedback from the underwriters after their initial rejection. Well I have proved him and all doubters wrong and made them looks prats.
In regards to my £12k wedding, best F-in day of my life! Don't regret it one bit and I don't regret the loan, I can easily afford the repayments and with my wifes salary on top life will be good. Even if the worst happens and we lose this provisional offer, I'm confident we will buy our own house soon enough. So all those people who made sly judgemental rude comments about my wedding can kiss my !!!!!! Hahahahahahahahahah!
Good luck to you, nothing wrong with spending 12k on your wedding...0 -

You getting worked up and rising to every comment whilst your case was undecided made this thread fun for them and boring for others.
Nothing more to see, so they've moved on.
25% Shared ownership - not something I'd consider
£12K wedding & other costs - Lots of people to spend between £10K - £15K on their wedding. We didn't (against the wishes of our parents) but it was just as memorable, but each to their own.
Next time you want advice, grow a thicker skin or you'll end up with an 8 page thread littered with insults that only needs to be 2 pages long.
Good luck with the house purchase, it looks like things are moving in the right direction.0 -

That's BS and you know it!
I came here to seek advise and some resorted to petty name calling, judgemental comments, and below the belt sly digs. I never joined this forum expecting everyone to agree with me but the least I expected was constructive advise! If you do not agree with me then say it without being rude and judgemental, we are adults after all!?
Also, those people disappeared because I have proved them wrong! I achieved what they, the "experts", believed could not be achieved. Many people here disagreed with me but some did it in a mature constructive way and since I have received the positive news they have been adult enough to post and congratulate me. The ones who chose to disagree with me in a nasty judgemental way, the ones who claimed to be "experts", have disappeared because I have made them look !!!!!.
A fully expect a few and their supporters to crawl out from the sewers from which they came and try to save face and defend themselves but the facts are they were wrong about me and what I could and could not achieve.0 -

:rotfl: comedy gold that! :rotfl:
The thing is poppet, you've got your chest all puffed out with pride because you think you've got one over on everyone, including HSBC. Those of us that have a) been here longer and understand the concepts of moneysaving and home ownership and b) have a bit more intelligence/life experience know that paying high levels of interest (cards and loans) for long periods of time (5 years/minimum payments) and a 25% share of a flat plus rent (dead money) is not even close to a good financial plan.
But hey, you have the arrogance of youth that makes you know that you're right and we're all wrong.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Have to disagree. The last comment was basically telling him to tolerate and accept some of the abuse that has been thrown at him over the last week which to be honest is BS!
Having read Jesters original post, I don't think he is the one with the poor attitude. The posts made by some members, were rude and not needed. The guy came here seeking for advise and instead he was ridiculed and laughed at for believing that he had a right to an explanation from the underwriters. Well, its clearly obvious that Jester has had the last laugh!
I think the biggest mistake Jester made was to tell people that he was a 20 something PhD, earning £56k, in a good secure job and married to a barrister. This information prompted two sorts of people to post:
1. Those in similar well off positions or those who were not intimidated by Jester but wondered why he could not be patient and buy an entire house instead of shared ownership. These were the members who gave him constructive criticism and were not rude
2. Those who had their noses put out of joint because Jester was young, successful with a high earning potential. I'm sure these people will now come out of the woodwork and deny this but the facts are there to see, you had the opportunity to be adult and constructive but you opted to be petty. One must wonder why? Having read Dark Jesters original post I do not see how he deserved any of the abuse he got.
Jesters attitude has been commendable; despite a torrent of abuse and ridicule, he has stuck to his guns, never gave up and has achieved what he set out to do. Whereas those that laughed at him have ended up with egg on their faces.
I guess the moral of the story is never give up, stay positive and ignore jealous idiots.
Taking your icome into consideration and future earning potential I don't see no problem with you paying more then the min on your debts without having to struggle. Although, try to buy a bigger share asap its not as if you can not afford it!
Congratulation Dark Jester, I hope it all works out for you.0 -
Nope you have generalised WAY too much son - don't care how old he is, what he does for a living or who his mortgage is with. He is just a nutter - whats to be jealous about?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Reading isn't your strong point, is it? Their joint income is £56-57k. He's not doing that well for himself
(Hmmmmmm, registered today, can't spell or use tenses properly and uses remarkably similar syntax to the Joker himself. Coincidence???)I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

The guy is a doctorate level research consultant and his married to a barrister. I think whether he is doing well for himself or not is really not up for debate!
Also, they both are recent graduates in their mid 20's on a joint income of £56k and therefore, barring any redundancies, they will be earning a hell of a lot more in the 30's!! Trust me, I'm a solicitor
Don't be mean, be happy for him. There is no reason for your negativity towards him.0 -
