My Avast runs out tomorrow and I think it's time to switch to something new. I might try AVG as my PC was infected last year even though I was running Avast

Youd probably have gotten infected no matter what you used

Then you are doing exactly what I said, and that is slating Norton due to their old software and ignoring the fact that they have improved it beyond measure. The only people on this thread that have used Norton 360 praise it, but people choose to ignore that and talk about 3 year old software instead.

You can try Norton 360 for 30 days for free, so why don't you give it a try and then come back and talk about it with some actual knowledge?

Of course you won't do that. You will use the old software...slow, bloated...blah blah...to justify not installing a Norton product on your system.

I got a Norton licence for 360 v4 on ebay for £29.99 for two years protection and it is the best thirty quid I have spent recently. The fact that Norton give you a free upgrade to new products within your subscription period just makes it even better value.

Unless im talking about people who use 360

Why would I say anything about old software?

    I wouldnt use it as
a - I know what im doing and really dont need to pay
b - if i DID pay id pay for Kaspersky
c - I deal with trojans on a daily basis and Norton is still the same it ever was from the logs ive seen ~ isnt that what an av is for?

I would highly recommend Kaspersky. I've been using it for a year or so and haven't had a single problem since (*grabs wooden desk leg just in case!*) and it has blocked everything it is supposed to. So I'm happy!

(My son is studying computers at uni and this is the one he uses at the recommendation of his lecturer who knows these things, so it must be ok!)
Oh dear, here we go again.

Anyone want to start a book on the outcome of bob_man_uk's trial
    10/11 Norton
    10/11 No Difference
    100/1 Anyone trying out all A/Vs :D:D

lol, the outcome at the moment is no difference, slightly slows my pc down during startup but no more than other software does, I cant see any obvious signs of hogging memory, however when i left my pc idle for 10 minutes it did start to do its cleanup tests, recovering from those made it slightly sluggish too.
